Check Surfaces (am I understanding this function correctly)

Hello Group

 

I tried using the Check surface feature in V8 to leave some material on some mould shut off faces and the results lead me to wonder if I am understanding this feature correctly.

 

I set the params in "surface finish contour" to leave 0.1 mm on the surfaces I selected as check but the tool left these faces off the toolpath completely. I assumed it would have machined these faces and left 0.1 mm stock for me to remove later. I ended up translating the faces sideways by 0.1mm to get the desired results.

 

Any pointers or explanations would be much appreciated.

Johnny Check surface are faces that you do not want to touch with the tool.

The Distance to leave is how far a way from that surface do you want to be.

 

You do not have an option in MC to set how much stock to leave on one surface in a batch of surfaces.
