Visual Basic API for Mastercam

Hello,

 

I am a new user of Mastercam. At the outset i would like to know whether we could do through some application programming interface the following.

 

1. Open Master cam application

2. Open a file

3. Process using VBscript

4. Close application.

 

Since I am using cad application like Inventor for modelling, I would like to automate the cad part of it.

You could automate Mastercam from within, but there is no external automation interface (Ex: COM). You could, however, create a C-Hook to do what you need. You would then launch Mastercam like this:

 

C:Mcam9Mill9.exe D:pathtoyour_file.mc9

 

You would set the C-Hook that you created to be the startup C-Hook (you can do this in Screen | Configure). The C-Hook would also need to be responsible for closing Mastercam. Off the top of my head, I can't recall if Mastercam VBScripts can be used as start up or in the commandline. But this may be a start.

I think the Mastercam ATP VB Script would do what you are looking for less the close application.

You can put the Script name in the shortcut and follow it with /exit

 

c:mcam9mill9.exe mcam9vbmyVB.vbs /exit

 

and it will close Mastercam after executing the script
