Just finished testing a post I developed on a new Excel (two tables, 4 heads of which 1 is 5-Axis) with the CNi (XP600, XNC, NC 1000, whatever you want to call it) control. The post was originally done for a Rover C. I need to circle back and incorporate updates into the Rover C post, then test. Biesse had used that original post in Italy for a benchmark, and reported that it was fine, but I've optimized things a bit since then.

Rover C9 FT

IS WHAT ARE GETTING TWO OF. THEY ARE REPLACING 2 KOMO'S. WHAT KIND OF DRILLING PROCESS ARE YOU SETTING UP FOR. ARE CURRENT ROVER 30 AND 336 USE HOLE TABLE. ARE YOU SETTING UP FOR BLOCK DRILLING OR HOLE TABLE DRILLING? SHOULD I BE WORRIED ABOUT THE TRANSITION? WE CURRENTLY PROGRAM OUR ROVERS WITH MASTERCAM, BUT WE WERE TOLD THE POSTS WERE ALREADY READY TO GO FOR THE ROVER C'S. BUT FROM EXPERIENCE I KNOW NOTHING INCLUDING THE MACHINES WILL COME OUT OF THE BOX PERFECT. THE NICE THING IS I HAVE TIME TO START REDOING ALL OF OTHER PROGRAMS DONE IN A CAM PACKAGE CALLED ROUTER CIM THAT CAME WITH THE KOMOS. THE OTHER NICE THING IS I CAN JUST RETOOL WHAT WE HAVE CREATED IN MASTERCAM FOR THE KOMO'S.

THANKS FOR YOUR TIME.

ALSO LET ME KNOW AFTER YOU TEST THE ROVER C POST.

The non-5-Axis code is all the same really, so your non-5-Axis Rover C doesn't really need the retesting.

Your current Mastercam posts will probably work if they are for the NC 1000 or XNC control (rather than the RT-480). Our post supports both hole table drilling and Mastercam standard and block drilling.

Programs for the Komo will need tool names defined to match with the setup on the Biesse control. You may also need to shift files into a position where the datum is top left, top.

THAT IS WHY I AM GLAD WE MADE THE SWITCH. IT IS EASY TO REGEN AND MOVE PARTS AND TOOLPATHS ALONG WITH RETOOL. UNFORTUNETLY WE HAVE THOSE CONTROLS. OUR BIESSES ARE OLD! YOU GUYS DIDN'T JUST CREATE OUR POSTS FOR GREG SUMPS DID YOU.

Dave,

I have a customer looking for a post for the following Router:

Machine is a Biesse Rover 22

Controller is a NC500

The machine is a 3 axis machine. Do you have a post in your library to suit that? If so, please email me with details.

Cheers,

Mike
