question for CNC - ART wish list

1 - when creating a New Base Surface, can we have the option to use irregular shapes in addition to square or rectangle?

 

2 - can we also have the ability to "trim" a base surface to geometry?

 

3 - when creating or using installed textures, i think it would be nice to have a preview of the settings before having to actually apply them to your work. it gets to be somewhat tedious to apply a value, regenerate and then see that the setting is not quite what you expected, thus, the user has to go back and tweak more settings.

Hello Trevor,

 

As of Mastercam Art X2MR2, you can crop the base surface to your to your Art Surface Operations.

1. Open the Art base surface parameters dialog box.

2. Click on the Art Shading Settings button to open the Art Shading Settings dialog box. (The button to the left of the green “OK” checkmark.)

3. Select the check boxes at the bottom of the dialog to crop the ABS at Z zero, or to set up cropping planes elsewhere on Z.

Correct me if I'm wrong. When it comes to machining, it will still machine the cropped surface. Its basically just hiding it, not getting rid of it or trimming it.

you are right dan...it is only for visual eye-candy. serves no function for toolpath. that is what i was after here. so this will take me back to requesting irregular shapes in addition to rectangle or square.
