Wrapping

I know it's a "woodworking Forum" but ARt is the prevalent product.

 

With art is it possible to wrap a weave type around a cylinder, this shape

 

 

around this

 

 

 

and I am not having ANY luck.

 

Any suggestions, I've tried just wireframe, stl file, nothing lookd right or good.

 

I'm not a bit Art user, can you tell?

It looks like you have it croped. I don't think wrap and crop works well together. Crop is only a visual feature the organic surface is still there and will be machined, unless you chose the boundary option. Also it won't wrap the boundary's that I know of.

Hi John, You can also back out the process by creating your unwrapped surfaces based on the dimensions of a wrapped surfaces. Art - New Art Base Surface - Unwrapped cylinder. If you give it a diameter of your desired end result, it will give you the length of a rectangle to start with. Once you have that, create the organic surfaces, textures, etc and then wrap it up. I set my background color as gradient

 

Settings >> configuration >> colors

 

I choose a gradient color direction of Horizontal

 

Then in color choices

 

starting color of 232

ending color of 252

I am using X2 MR2 SP1 also, and my colors are in a different order than yours

If you click on color on the bottom of your screen and go to the customize tab, the furthest to the right button will restore your default colors if you want to set it back

How did you copy your screen like that?

you can use ALT + printscreen, then paste it into a file.

The you place it on a host website, I use www.photobucket.com it's free and paste the URL of the uploaded file into the image tags available by clicking on the Image button on the reply window

When I try to do this, nothing happens

if you then right click on your desktop and choose new .bmp file, give it a name and then right click on the new file and click on edit, you can then paste the capture into the file.

 

That's a long way to do and why I use an application for this but you can do it if need be.

I havent figured it out yet, Ill have to work on it later, I guess I have to write a program now.
