Where to start with SW files

I've been using Mastercam for a little over a year now. I am comfortable with generating tool paths from DXF files, but I am having a terrible time with Solidworks files. I am a one man shop on an island so I have no in the shop to consult with. I went to the mainland this week to visit a friends shop. He showed me using the WCS to generate tool paths on the various surfaces but there was no way I could remember all the steps he went through to get the tool paths in the short time we spent. We took a drawing of one part, generated tool paths and then transformed the tool path to machine 5 parts from one bar. I feel like I am stagnant and would like to get to the next level of programming. My question is, is there any training manuals, tutorials, DVD's or other materials that explain how to generate tool paths from solid models? and then transform the tool paths?

Thanks,

Mark Hockett
