Lathe Verify with holders

What do I have to do to accomplish this? Save insert and holder as individual STL's?

All the help and forum topics I found only talk about 2d stuff (boundries must be closed)

I need to see if my holder (big face grooving blade) is going to hit the stock!!!

I've heard of the lathe being the "Darkside" of Mcam, but I didn't know it that bad!!!

Lathe tools can only be drawn in 2d as MC only sees lathe tools in 2d. You can't get an accurate representation of the tool in verify. For standard stick tools all MC does is take the tool as you see it in 2d and project it the amount you have in the cross section field. On custom tools it projects the holder the same amount as the width of the shank. If you drew your tool with a 1" shank, MC projects it 1". If you're trying to check for radial clearance behind the insert on an ID tool it won't happen, so you have to draw the tool from the end of the holder and use arcs to represent the part.

You can't get an accurate representation of the tool in verify.

Tool representation in verify is really bad when it comes to custom tools in lathe. Also, The machine moves are not even correct when it comes to C-Axis rotational moves. I really hope Mastercam is working to improve this.
