Renishaw Probe - Variaxis 730 - Dynamic offset. Help!!

Recommended Posts

Good morning guys,

Please help me with this.

Machine is Variaxis 730 with Renishaw Probe.

I would like to probe the A rotation and update my dynamic work offset (G54.2 P1).

Could some body please guide me thru. this.??

Thanks in advance.

Not sure how old is your Mazak, but I remember some years ago their probing cycles were not able to do it..

Do you have the Renishaw Inspection Plus macros? I haven't tried to do what you're asking, but it shouldn't be too difficult. Do you have some more detail on exactly what it is you're doing? Maybe a sketch of the part and it's orientation?

You could probably use the 9818 macro to find the angle. If the macro won't write the angle to the Dynamic offset register, just write it to G54.1P300, and then copy it to G54.2P1 from G54.1P300 like this:

Thanks for all the reply guys.

Watcher:

I have a 2010 model.

Joe788:

Yes, i have Renishaw Inspection Plus macros. My part is about 20" dia, 8" tall and it has one flat face lay on front view. ( sorry, I can not post any picture in the moment)

Yes, it is exactly what i am thinking.

Here is what i tried to do:

Code

----------------------------------

N241 (PROBE)

G0 G17 G40 G80 G90 T241

G0 G28 G91 Z0

G90

M06

G00 G17 G90 G54 X0. Y0. M5

G0 G90 A0. C0.

G43 H#3020 Z10.

G65 P9810 X0. Y0. F100.

G65 P9810 Y-8.75

G65 P9810 Z7.25

G65 P9843 Y-8.45 D9.

G65 P9832 S1.(UPDATE DYNAMIC FIXTURE OFFSET)

G65 P9810 Z15. F100.

G0 G90 X0 Y0 A0 C0.

G65 P9810 Z7.75 F100.

G65 P9823 Z7.4035 D20.9 A-45. B90. C225.

G65 P9832 S1. (UPDATE DYNAMIC FIXTURE OFFSET)

G65 P9810 Z9.5 F100.

G65 P9810 Y5.5

G65 P9811 Z7.6535

G65 P9832 S1. (UPDATE DYNAMIC FIXTURE OFFSET)

G65 P9810 Z10. F100.

G0 G91 G28 Z0.

M01

--------------------------------------------

It is working OK with XYZ but A and C

I will try it again when i have a chance.

Thanks

Thanks for the info.

you mentioned something about "G54.4", i wonder if any body is using it. I mean, there is must be a solution for it.

The Renishaw Inspection Plus macros do allow you to probe with G54.2 active dependent on a setting in the 9724 program.

However G54.2 will only allow dynamic compensation in XY & Z in 5 axis machining.

G54.4 WILL allow compensation in A & C, BUT you cannot probe with G54.4 active.

I have done quite a lot of work on a Mazak Variaxis with Renishaw Probing to measure and update G54.4 values with success. Also managed to probe (with some heavy maths) at dynamically compensated angles.

Thansk for the info. guypb but i have a question.

How do i know my machine has G54.4 option turn on?

Is there any way i can check it?

Hi Tinhman, the page would be available as a soft key on the botton when you go into work offsets (similar to Dynamic, but with a different name - can't remember exactly what though).

My guess is you will not have it if you have G54.2
