How to change UI language

Hi,

 

I would like to know if there is an easy way to change the user interface (UI) language of Mastercam X5 (Demo-Home Learning Edition)?

 

As I'm a total newbie in Mastercam and going through tutorials written in my mother language (Finnish) and in English, it would be nice if one could change the language of UI easily. This would make following these tutorials somehow faster. Of course you can reinstall the whole application but that's too time consuming.

 

I've heard that this can be done without reinstallation but I don't know the exact procedure.

 

Any help would be highly appreciated!

To change the language you need the translated resource DLLs (that go into Resources folder) for the desired language and for the version of Mastercam you're running.

For Finnish (I do not know for sure that they have them for the Home Learning Edition) I would contact the Mastercam dealer in Finland and they may be able to help you.

Okay, thanks for this info. I'm running X5 Demo version that has Finnish UI. But I will contact the local dealer if I feel I need English UI for some reason.

OK... I misunderstood, I thought you were looking for the Finnish language.

The localization is done by replacing some files after the install is complete. This is done automatically by the installation software. Now I assume you have only a DVD installation media? If so, you can do the next:

 

1. Copy the x64 or the x86 -folder to you desktop.

2. Go to data -> Mastercam X6 Demo-HLE and delete the translate -folder

3. Open the mastercam.ini which is at the Mastercam X6 Demo-HLE -folder

4. Remove the semicolon (;) before english

5. Put a semicolon before finnish

6. Replace the word finnish with english in the [defaultLanguage] -line

7. Start the install and select repair

 

Second option is to ask for an English installation DVD, which we will be more than happy to send you.
