Variable flute em and insert cutters

When do you use insert em instead of a variable flute. We have changed over to variable flute for mostilling we do! If using inserted - what brand is the best in your opinions

What types of operations Is an insert cutter truly advantageous. Obviously the larger your workpieces the more you would turn to the inserts over solid carbide

What types of operations Is an insert cutter truly advantageous. Obviously the larger your workpieces the more you would turn to the inserts over solid carbide

 

There are a lot of factors that can push me towards insert cutters over solid carbide, but when I have a high HP machine that can really run a big cutter or special types of insert mills like high feed or plunge mills I tend to choose inserts over solid.
