open pocket

I am a beginner and I have problem in reaching toolpaths for an open pocket. I follow a step by step exercise in a mastercam v9 workbook by R. Cozzens and somewhere I guess I'm making a mistake.

After inputting all pocket parameters just like the book says to do. I click OK and wait for the toolpath to appear but all that happens is ->

Mastercam window says: processing, please wait. It's a simple operation and I'm really confused why there is no response from the program.

 

Can You please tell me what can be causing this "halt" ?

Does it eventually produce a toolpath? Will it produce a standard pocket? What about a contour?

Emil,

 

Please include some specifics on the box you're programming with (i.e. P4, 1 GHz, GeForce 4 video card) and the exact version of Mastercam you're using (i.e. V9.0, V9.0 SP1, V9.1, V9.1 with latest patches). Do you have the switch "Use open pocket cutting method" checked on in the Open Pocket parameter button? What is your overlap percentage, stepover percentage and maximum depth? Is it possible for you to upload the file to the FTP so forum members can look it over and make other suggestions? There are many helpful users in this forum. HTH

Maybe you have the stepover set to a very small amount. It should be between 50-80% of the tool diameter.
