Hi All,

 

Wanting the opinions of the industrial customers and teachers. I will be posting the same question on the educational forum.

 

I'm currently teaching Mastercam and SolidWorks at a school here in Toronto, Ontario. We want to add more subjects to our curriculum for Mastercam. I want to know from the industrial users what subject areas are you using on Mastercam these days. As for the instructors, are you focusing on High Speed toolpaths, FBM, ? and if so how many days,weeks are you teaching the students.

 

For instructors :Also I know this is not the forum for SolidWorks but do you interact SolidWorks with Mastercam ?

Subject areas?...Basics to begin with ....lead ins and out ....pocket strategies, helical milling, "DRILLING",...3D curve cutting and what you can get away with....... Advanced modelling, surfacing, 3D surface roughing paths as well as finishing, 5 axis advanced toolpathing and techniques.

 

 

 

Its really hard to teach someone 5 axis with out even the basics....not to mention why, when to switch to 3+2 to full 5+ axis and the benefits of being able to change back and forth.

How bout the High speed toolpaths ( 2D & 3D), and FBM... Are you using them ? Do you see the need for students to learn them especially in the industry here in Toronto ?

No matter what class I teach, mill or lathe, basic or advanced, I always spend at least a few days on dynamic milling. All levels of users really like discussing it and is applicable to everyone.

It's probably the most overlooked new features for milling in mastercam.. and once someone gets over the hump and uses it they always love it.

I use dynamic milling daily, you should teach it.
