  1. Hi, I've published a SolidWorks Training Guide that includes a step by step approach on Parametric Sketching and Part Modeling in SolidWorks. This book is a great resource for any novice and intermediate user. To find out more on the SolidWorks Training Guide, please follow the attached linkMy link Snehal
  2. Thanks for the input Derek and Jay ! The info you have provided is going to be usefull towards tweaking/changing our curriculum. Snehal
  3. Hi Jay, We go in depth with the basic 2D toolpaths, Contour,Pocket,Drill and with the standard 3D roughing and finishing surface toolpaths. We create custom projects and test for the students. As well we do have the books from IHS. We want to modify our curriculum to teach more of the 2D and 3D high speed toolpaths and FBM. Therefore, I want to know if teachers/instructors are adding extra classes to teach these "new" toolpaths or are they changing their curriculum to accommodate these "new" subject areas.
  4. Hi Chris,

    Yes I do... How's it going ?

  5. Hi Jack, How bout the High speed toolpaths ( 2D & 3D), and FBM... Are you using them ? Do you see the need for students to learn them especially in the industry here in Toronto ?
  6. Hi Snehal, It's Chris Merrick here at Coordinate don't know if you remember me.

  7. Hi All, Wanting the opinions of the industrial customers and teachers. I will be posting the same question on the educational forum. I'm currently teaching Mastercam and SolidWorks at a school here in Toronto, Ontario. We want to add more subjects to our curriculum for Mastercam. I want to know from the industrial users what subject areas are you using on Mastercam these days. As for the instructors, are you focusing on High Speed toolpaths, FBM, ? and if so how many days, weeks are you teaching the students. For instructors : Also I know this is not the forum for SolidWorks but do you interact SolidWorks with Mastercam ? Its nice to be back on this forum Snehal

  9. Just wondering if someone found a reason behind the creation of "new views".. I have been asked the same question, It happens randomly on the users end (usually when creating multiple planes). I have given the above suggestions and I've tried to duplicate it on my end with no luck. [ 08-13-2009, 07:12 PM: Message edited by: Snehal Shah ]
  10. Hi Left coast lefty, Are you entitled to X4 ? If you are then X4 has new functionality "Turn Profile" which is an improvement from Solids - 2D profile.
  11. Do you have a high speed surface toolpath in that MCX file ? If so, make sure no rotation is set under rotary axis type.
  12. In your post check for the "Machining position turret / spindle settings #Machining position turret/spindle settings # Switch strings based on turret position top/bottom-left/right and cut type. # Turret position is based on the Mastercam settings (see lathtype). # Strings are re-assigned for output in the routine psw_str_mult. # The string variable sw_string holds the place position value to determine # how to assign the strings. Planes are relative to the view from Mastercam. # Assign the 17 digit string following the alpha columns below: # A - C axis, 1 = axis winds, 2 = axis signed, 3 = indexer # B - Spindle direction, 0 = normal, 1 = reverse Depending on the turret /spnidle setup you have go to that block and look under the B columns and change it from 0 to 1 or 1 to 0 depending on what you want. #Columns- ABCDEFGH.IJKLMNOPQ #Turret/Spindle #Path Type scase_tl_c1 10000222.000000000 #Top turret/Left spindle, Turning cut scase_tl_c2 10000012.000000000 #Top turret/Left spindle, Right Face cut scase_tl_c_2 10110012.000000000 #Top turret/Left spindle, Left Face cut Hope this helps.
  13. If your post is mpmaster based then there is a section "Question format statements" in the post where you can add your prompt. i.e. # Question format statements # revision : 1 # (declare the variable) fq 1 stock_typ "Predator Stock fq 2 cyl_typ "Cylindrical Stock Axis fq 3 revision " revision number " Then in pheader of the post block enter in the call for the question. ie. q3 ( where 3 stands for the 3rd question) * As well keep in mind that the "revision" must be declared ( see above) and formatted(see below) as a variable in the post. i.e. fmt 2 revision # revision nmuber HTH
  14. Dont' know if you all know about this work around but thought I'd mention it. It pertains to importing and exporting toolpaths. For example lets say you have 2 toolpath groups named (TEST1 and TEST2 respectively) and you have a couple of operations in them. If you right click and select "export" it will show all the operations and toolpath groups being exported. However, if you then right click and "import" all the operations you exported are in one group. The workaround is before you export your operations save your file as an MCX. Then rename the .MCX as .operations. Then right click on the mouse in the operations manager and select "import". All the toolpath operations along with the toolpath groups will come in.
