I heard on the tv last night the fed has lowered the prime to 1%. Next you guys will be getting paid to borrow money. What are you seeing for rates in car lots and the like.

Lots of car dealers are offering 0 %. I'm amazed. I am currently re-financing to 5% fixed. It might still drop a bit before we finalize, but we're locked in to at MOST 5%.

I just bought a house, signed the final papers last week, and I'm loving these interest rates. A much bigger house, more bed rooms, pool, garage.. all the stuff my old house didn't have and my monthly payment is LESS than the old house. [Happy Dance] A co-worker just refinanced last night and his payment is going WAY down and he just bought his house a year or two ago.

 

Unless you bought a house recently I suggest looking into re-financing. The rates probably won't get this low again anytime soon and maybe even in our lifetime. And if you're worried about a bunch of new fees and stuff to pay, some banks will bump the interest rate up a bit and absorb the fees or add it into the new mortgage.

I am building a house, it is cheaper, I looked at alot of houses and decided to go that route

and at 5 % I couldnt say no.
