Vice for CNC Router?

Recommended Posts

Does anyone know of a way to mount a vice on a cnc router bed where the t-slots on the bed are blocked at both ends due to sealing them for vacuum? Maybe a different type of bolt to hold down to a t-slot without sliding them along?

Obviously I could pull the blocks out and use the t-slots that way, but I'd rather not since they're glued in.

Something else you could do is mount your vise to an aluminum plate. and suck the plate down to the table. I used to Run SCm routers and there were times we did things like that. Setup time would be almost null. especially if your Router uses Pods to set your sheets against.

Hmm, that's an interesting idea that makes so much sense I wish I would have thought of it. I imagine it'd have to be a decent sized plate to make sure it's held down, considering each vacuum zone is 24x48". It's worth trying out though!
