I have looked through the help menu's and other posted forums and can't find much on it. I was told the colors matter. the insert has to be yellow and the holder blue. Any idea's???

I don't see your attachment?

You can draw your tool on a level, or in it's own file. I prefer to use a level. There can't be any other geometry on the level you choose.

Draw it as if you were drawing a revolved solid. Make sure you draw it at origin and top view. The colors don't matter for mill tools. The center line can't be solid, you need to change it to a centerline, or better yet, delete it all togehter. Also, you need to have a flat at the bottom of the tool. If your chamfer tool goes to a point, make a tiny flat at the tip or you'll have problems. Go to define a new tool, choose undefined as the tool type, and click on custom level.

I had tried to create my threadmills. What I found that worked was draw them in the top view. Center of cutter is centerline (not sure if solid line matters) along the y axis. the other line creating a single profile can be solid. The y origin should be the cutting edge ( Z TIP) if that makes sense.

I may have not done it correctly because I need to create one for each diameter change I have otherwise verify doesn't show it very well.

Hope this helps.
