Part of the mastercam system requirements for operating system calls for window 7 Professional or Ultimate yet I know people using the Home version and it seems to work fine. Does it matter?

If CNC took the time to specify it, I would say you will see the best results following the minimum system requirements.

IMO no , X6 runs great on Win7x64 Home

People best be getting ready to move off of XP.

 

Many CAM systems are announcing they will no long support XP

 

Solidworks has announced with the next drop, XP is dead.

Solid Edge stops certifying new releases against an operating system shortly after Microsoft drops mainstream support for it. Microsoft dropped mainstream support for XP in April 2009. Solid Edge ST4 is the last version to install on Windows XP. For ST4, we will not address XP operating system related issues or provide XP-specific fixes. Solid Edge ST5 will not install on XP.

XP is a dead O/S, only security patches for updates for the

next few years but software support WILL start drying up soon.

 

As Solidedge is a Siemens/PLM product as is NX, it ONLY makes sense that NX is going to make the same move.

 

Just something to consider moving forward and I would be thinking sooner, rather than later

The difference between XP and Win7x64 is night and day..

 

If you're running XP, its well worth the effort to upgrade, but you'll need to add some ram to take full advantage of it
