TOS Varnsdorf

Recommended Posts

Hi folks,

We're on the energy business and we are looking for replacements for our HBM machines... One name that was brought to us was TOS Varnsdorf, a company in Czech Republic.

We're looking into Gidding & Lewis, Pama, Juaristi HBMs... all these have a central headstock while TOS have a lateral headstock... there are pros and cons in each design - But the fact is that the geometric accuracy is better in HBM machines with central headstocks... but they are costly...

I'd love to hear about TOS machines as they are interesting if we don't want to buy a formula 1 but a reliable machine for the next decade at least... if you could share experiences with their post-sales, even better...

Any feedback on the machines mentioned above is greatly welcomed,

Thank you,

Daniel

We've got a TOS HBM at our place .

It's a pretty good machine. It has a 3000 rpm spindle which is nice for a big HBM.

What's nice is you can run it at 3K without the spindle growing on you.

Our Ikegia's have 3K spindles but if you use it, you'll have trouble holding Z dimensions.

I concider it a better machine than our Ikegia's, but it doesn't get as much use

because it's got a Heidi control and not many guys know how to use it.

It's a little light for heavy stock removal but it gets the job done and holds tolerances well.
