SAM2-2G THREAD

Hello All !!

 

The customer provides me material A36 32" OD X 14" ID X 8.5 Long and they want me to machine a thread (15.500-2SAM2-2G. MINOR 15.25-15.275. Major 15.52-15.565. Picth 15.375-15.42). I have not done this thread before and what kind of thread is it?. Can someone gives me a direction how to machine it. I mean CSS, Feedrate and depth of cut etc.

A36 is about 175 SFM and the feedrate was already determined by the pitch of the thread and that soulds like a 2 threads per inch which would be .5 in per rev feed rate. So the only thing you can do it try to reduce the depth of cut to help you with such and avgressive feed rate per rev. Might see about getting it ground if you know of someone in the area. I have cut some 4 tpi threads, but never a 2 so lets us know how it turns out.
