Tool Edit question

I'm new to Mastercam and have a noob question. While setting up my 45deg. chamfer bit in Tool Manager,I was wondering the difference between the flute length and shoulder. While looking at my router bits i don't seem to see where the two differ.

Hi Kovi, welcome to the forum!

 

For some tools the shoulder option does not really apply. it is mostly for tools that have reduced shanks or larger diameter shanks. Try entering different values for each attribute and see what happens.

I use those numbers just as Brendon described. I use them mainly for reference. If I have a necked down endmill I enter this neck length into the shoulder field. The others are self-explanatory.

 

There has been a lot of discussion on custom drawn tools. Do a search in the industrial forum if you need help with it. And feel free to ask questions.
