Hole Pop in CNC EDM

Does anybody know if you can hole pop in a CNC EDM? We have a job that we need to put a hole for a vent through a piece of hardened steel (3" thick). We can send out for hole pop but I was wondering if there is something we could buy to do it in our Charmilles Roboform.

We also have an old Charmilles D-10 laying around if that would work as well.

Thanks!

Wouldn't a piece of Tungsten Carbide do it?

I don't know enough about hole popping. I am posting this for my shop foreman.

It shouldn't be a problem with The Tungsten Carbide especially if you have any type of rotating head. Even if you didn't with the right power setting you could get it through the steel.

It can be done but I would recommend purchasing hollow tubing so you can flush through the middle. If you don't it will take a lot longer process time, especially if it is smaller than 1/16" diameter. In the past I used copper rod and bent it 90 degrees at the top so I could attach flushing hose to force the debris out the top of the hole, it made a world of difference, that is, before we bought dedicated hole-poppers.
