Lathe Stock Flip

Hey All,

Is there a video link for lathe stock flip or can someone point me to a previous thread?

Presently I'm mirroring my turning profile to another level and manually re-selecting stock for OP2 operations, within a new machine group. Creating new stock revolve geometry too.

I'm sure this is the incorrect approach.

Stock Flip is just a series of events,..

Step One: select the geom you want to flip, allow the utility to blank the geom

Step Two: select a level to copy the transferred geom, I usually offset it by 100 in the levels manager

Step Three: you need to select the position on the back of the part you would like to be the new Z zero

Step Four: if you are defining the chuck you will need to select the new clamping position by using the final position utility

(this is one of the reasons why you want to have the original geom blanked, the stock flip will give you a preview of the flipped position, if it is not blanked the geom will be overlapping)

Just a word of experience (BAD) here. I like to rotate my geometry or flip not mirror. Once I moved to mill-turns and drilling od holes and face holes mirroring got me in a lot trouble. OD holes in the solid models mirror also and parts needing a hole at 15 deg will end up at -15 deg . The utility is plus 1000 for this reason also .
