2d countor ramp bottom finish

Hi,

 

the attached photo 2d countor ramp toolpath.

Geometry is 20mm circle and tool is 12mm endmill.

2d countor toolpath goes z-5mm  (1mm down/round).

 

Sometimes need bottom finish twice. Final depth two full turns.

 

What is the best way to do it?

Unless you really want to get fancy with creating geometry and I rarely do.....Break the circle in 2 segments, rough it with the contour ramp, then in a follow up contour where you chain it twice arond

In your contour ramp give it a finish multipass of .000 and keep tool down.  See attached program.

Bunch of different ways to do it. For the example you have I would use the formula (dia circle-dia cutter)*pi and put that into your overlap amount in the lead in/out page. This keeps the tool down and you don't have to run the lead in/out move like you do when using multipass. See screenshot.

JMC answer is closest to what I was looking for. I wonder what is the formula to overlap...

 

Another CAM program  (Delcam for Solidworks) that is done by entering the number how many times finishing do.
