Translating toolpaths

Hi All!

I have a toolpath to copy, so I use transform-translate, set everything, I want sub programs so I check that too. It works ok. In the operations manager there is the parent operation and the transform results. When I post it the first part is coded as a stand alone part and the rest are subs. Does anyone know how I can make the first part a sub also. Im just trying to streamline the nc file, so all I see is position and sub call.

thank you

George

George, when I use the "translate function,I do not post the source operation.

I only post the "translated or "rotated" toolpath and do not have this problem.

Example: If you want to rotate 4 times at 90 deg.

then put (4) in the number of steps in the rotate params. start angle would be zero, and rotation abgle would be set to 90 deg.

Then only post the "translated toolpath.

It may say "not all op's selected for posting"

but this is ok.

Hope this helps

I have found lately if you turn off posting in source operation you dont have any problem what so ever. This will be a little long but here is how Tranfor mdoes it this frist way.

That is done with Transform.

Toolpaths, Transform, Check copy source ops, Disable posting, and Subprograms. Post.

If you select all the toolpaths for backplot or verify, it will show you the 'Parent' op. If you just select the Transform op, It will show only the ones that the machine will run and the order it will run them.

We use this all the time.

+1 Heeler,

That's the way I've found translate to work best as well...plus you get that cool little ghost icon! biggrin.gifbiggrin.gif

However it's good to be aware that when you backplot it WILL run the source op, (basically by performing the source operation twice on screen- once for the original, once for the transform)...when you post it though it dumps the source op.
