File association from X8 to X9 not changing

Morning all

 

   Running X9 beta 3 and was trying to change file association to X9.  I go into set associations and have half my files associated with X8 so the X8 exe. file is there in the recommended programmes.

So i head down to browse and navigate to my X9 folder and select the X9 exe file. Hit OK and it defaults back to X8 ??. I cannot get it to default to X9.

Has anyone come across this?

Yes I see that all the time.

The issue is that the executable name is mastercam.exe in X8 as well as X9, windows will not play nice when the 2 versions have the same executable name.

 

The mklink command may be of use, or perhaps renaming one of the version of mastercam's executable.

   I changed the X9 exe to mcamx9 and files are now associated. Thanks again Allan
