If it's FANUC hardware then Parameter 3404.2 (SBP) and parameter 138.7 must be set to 1.

The file name must be Oxxxx without any extension to call via M198Pxxxx with these setting.

and don't forget to change the IO chanel to 4 (para 0020)?

That would only apply if he using a Memory Card.

If it's a Data Server I believe it's I/O channel 5

So the data server is actually an integral hard drive then? If so, I didn't now this.

On the paperwork of the Chevaliers' we have here, it says data server, which meant run from a memory card (the sales rep said).

So we run all the same from the memory cards.

Have I been caught by a salesman

Data Server on a FANUC is a very specific FANUC product.

It is most definitely NOT a memory card.

My friend, you have been had.

FANUC's Data Server is a Network Server that offers more functionality than the standard integrated networking.

With the standard integrated networking interface you can only load data from the network into CNC Memory and vice-versa.

With a Data Server, you can run programs directly from the Data Server.

It's a Mitsubishi control. Sorry.

It's probably still a parameter.

I can't believe that Mits would option that but you never know these days.

Make sure you are doing it this way.

Server file name:           O1000

Program identifier in File: O1000

Sub Call to Server File:    M198 P1000

Yeah it's weird.

It's M98 P1000 ,D0

Server file is 1000

Identifier is O1000

I'll try again today. Wish it had a Fanuc but the machine is good enough to deal with the control.

Josh,

Your not calling it properly for the Mits.

M198 Pxxxx [L# of repeats, optional]

That's it

No D or H allowed.

The File should be named Oxxxx on the server without an extension.

You can also call it as M198 <File name> with the file name and extension being a max of 32 characters in length.

You return with an M99

You also want to remember that anything prior to the first CR/LF is ignored.

The only exception to that is if the sub file starts immediately with the O-word identifier.

Well technically the Dataserver is 2 items; 1) a hardware card with an Ethernet plug and 2) CF Card. ;)

With a parameter change and the Manual Guide i option you can load programs from the memory card to the Dataserver (on FANUC 30 Series Controls - i.e. 30i, 31i, and 32i) without having to use the Ethernet though Ethernet has a WAY faster throughput when loading programs.

That's the doc that Kitamura sent me. I'll try both ways.

If your machine has a Mits then they gave you the wrong information.

Does your machine say it has an Arumatik MI control?

It works though :)

Kitamura has their own frontend on top of the Mits control.

 With Xp?

If that's the case then download the Mits manual anyway.

You are going to find that the Arumatik manual will be wrong for some things and the Mits for others.

Between the tow you have a chance of getting things going.

Never understood why Kitamura did it.
