lathe-facing toolpath-tool embedded in stock error

When I try to generate the toolpath for facing the part, I get the tool embedded in stock error. The drawing shows the tool inside the chuck. I have changed the home location but to it still will not generate the tool path and starts the tool in the same place. What am I missing?

I've only used lathe a little but sounds like you need to add lead in/out.

You have your geometry set up in the upper quadrant(upper left) and you are trying to use the tools in the upper left BUT you have your axis combinations set as lower left

 

 

I am assuming, since you selected it, that your lathe turret is in that configuration.......

 

 

What I did was move your geometry to the lower left quadrant and set up a tool to cut in that orientation

The lathe that I am using is a Haas TL1. In class we are told to use the default lathe and without making any tool changes this happens. Thanks for the explination.
