I've heard on some FMS and some macro programs one can send e-mails for changes during a program tools etc. How 'bout an app that sends information on the progress of a program (that runs all night) or information that is sent through an app for current status? Asking for too much?

Depends on the manufacturer/control.

 

If you can handle Step 7 you can do it on almost any Siemens 840D if it has access to Internet or a server.

 

Mazak needs to buy their software and so on.

 

 

I've been working on a cheap solution in some of my hobby tinkering myself. What machine and control are you wanting to get info from?

There are various applications for OSP controls that can do that. Sends an alert if cycle complete or an alarm state is reached. Can send a trigger to the machine via email and it answers back with program progress ot a screenshot.
