For Bill H. - Swap Rotary Axis Label

Recommended Posts

I have searched but to no avail. I know this should be easy Colin, I have done it numerous times but seem to be forgetful. I need to change primary "A" axis to "B" and "B" to "A". And make "B" which is rotating about X Axis toward operator (negative).

Geesh I wish my memory was better.

I was able to limit the axis output to prevent winding up.

Thanks for your help in advance.

If you are talking about the Generic Fanuc 5X Mill Post, do the following:

# --------------------------------------------------------------------------
# 5 Axis Rotary Settings
# --------------------------------------------------------------------------
#Assign axis address
str_pri_axis : "C"
str_sec_axis : "A"
str_dum_axis : "B"

The variables above are the Primary and Secondary Axis (rotary) address strings. Change the 'str_pri_axis' from "A" to "B", or vise versa, and same with 'str_sec_axis'. (Just swap the two letters between the string variables.

Regardless of the Address Prefix Letter (A or B), you want to reverse the Secondary Axis.

#Secondary axis angle description (in machine base terms)
#With nutating (mtype 3-5) the nutating axis and this plane normal
#are aligned to calculate the secondary angle
rotaxis2$ = vecz #Zero
rotdir2$ = -vecy #Direction

This is controlled by the 'rotdir2$' variable. Just change the sign of the variable.

In the above example, 'rotdir2$ = -vecy'. Just remove the '-' sign. If the code looks like this 'rotdir2$ = vecy', then add the '-' sign.

This works on both 'rotdir1$' and 'rotdir2$'. Just reverse the sign. Either add or remove the minus sign (-) from in front of the variable...

Hope that helps,

Colin
