got the cables and Moxa from shop floor automation, so assuming they are correct.

5240 rs232C ready interrupt timeout ERROR

The send from the computer stops long before the timeout error.

I'm sure it is something simple/stoopid i'm missing.

getting warmer thanks to some advice from shop floor automation: work on sending to PC first; it's less error prone.

also discovered i don't need the CN0: to receive to CNC and the timeout went away. (now getting bad character errors)

anyways, on sending to PC i'm getting a little gibberish on top and bottom:

$DRIL875.MIN€€€€€€€€€€€€€€€€€€€€€€€€€€€€€€€€€€€€€€€€€€€€€€€€€€%
O1000

<my program>

.

.

.

G21HP=1
MT=1301
M321
M02

any ideas?

^^ not expert enough to know what you're talking about. Sorry :laughing:

I did play with different flow control settings between Moxo and Cimco.

didn't make a differnece recieving to PC.

I did change a receive setting in cimco for "remove characters". The "All Below ASCII 32" worked(!) to strip out the gibberish :thumbsup:

now to work on sending........

Sorry for the Saga, but maybe someone will google and find something helpful

when i send the machine times out, but maybe that is telling me it is done?  While in PIP the upper right of the screen shows the new filename.

How to get it to MD1:?

 this might be a dumb operator, not a DNC issue

We've got three Okumas, all connected to Cimco DNC Max, via a Moxa Nport server. I'm not at work at the moment, but I can give you all our comms settings and formats.

I seem to recall having your issue initially, but I don't recall how I fixed it. But, they're all working fine now. We've got one OSP7000, so I can provide the settings for that.

I'm not at work at the moment, but I can send it through on Monday.

5240 rs232C ready interrupt timeout ERROR

http://dncsetup.com/okuma.html

 If anyone googles their way here, my solution was to get optional parameter bits #1 and #8 setup correctly to solve the timeout error on transmitting to Okuma 7000. #12 alone will not do it.

#1 0000 1011

#8 1010 1010

thanks to Mick for confirming PC/okuma settings. :cheers:

Hats off to the forum. thanks guys!!

no more floppies!!!!! :thumbsup:  :thumbsup:  :thumbsup:

If you need more help with the setup of the Moxa and Okuma, you are a phone call away from our support team.

The setup i purchased from SFA is still working flawlessly. I only regret not doing it sooner.

 now If there was a way to to DNC without paying Okuma lots and lots of cash for the factory option.....:crybaby:
