If they are exporting you the file from Solidworks you can get them to export to you a parasolid and you wont have to buy anything.

 

Some other Cad packages also have Parasolid translators.

 

If your customer does not have A Parasolid, Tell them to send you an IGES. If you have Ver9 and need the Solid format, you can always stitch them together.

 

Stitching them together makes for a large file.

You can reduce the file by exporting with Mastercam's Parasolid translator and then reading it back in.

 

Course if you want to spend the money, you can always do as the others suggested and buy the STEP codes.

If it is a solid works just have them give you the parasolid files. (Format *.sldprt)

 

Put you can follow mulins thought in this manner, If it comes from say:

Solid Works

Pro-E

UG

Catia

CAd-Key

 

You can ask for Parasolid from the customer and should be just fine.

 

But as a add- cost you can get the converters to bring in:

Pro-E

UG

Catia
