HAAS TL-1 POST FOR MASTERCAM X9

Recommended Posts

HI ALL,

I HAVE A HAAS TL-1 LATHE WITH A TOOL POST.

THE TOOL POST IS IN FRONT OF THE CHUCK AS OPPOSED TO A TURRET IN THE BACK.

I NEED A POST THAT WILL PROGRAM THE TOOL FROM THE FRONT OR INFORMATION ON HOW TO CHANGE THE SETTING SO THE TOOL IS COMING FROM THE FRONT SIDE OF THE PART WHEN THECHUCK IS TO THE OPERATORS LEFT WHEN FACING THE MACHINE.

THANK YOU

Mike

Mike,

Are you programming the Mastercam File with -D+Z Planes? Are your tools configured for a Lower Turret?

You've got to setup Mastercam properly to get the correct output. It sounds like you (and possibly your shop) would benefit from some training. I mean no disrespect, just trying to point out that this is pretty fundamental stuff, and a couple hours of training would go a long way towards getting you up and running successfully.

Best regards,

Colin

just got the lathe an have never programed a lathe before.

I have proto trak lathes and can program them

but thank s for the tips.

yes training would hlp but that requires funds we do not have.

I've never understood companies that think this way. So, instead of spending a few hundred dollars to get the information you need to be successful, your company is willing to waste 10 times that amount for someone to "figure it out"?

one of the problems with the Tl lathes post is they are oriented just like how you are looking at the part. The down side is everything is backwards from how you program every other lathe out there. I just programmed mine with the generic Haas SL and St posts. This way you're not always flipping your tools. And any program done on the TL lathes will work with the SL lathes with almost no changes.
