  1. we have several machines with 18i-m controls. a couple of the older machines 1998 vintage don't have parameter #138, it goes from #135 to #140. we machines 2000 vintage with the same control and this poor man's server works great. any clues??? thanks
  2. Using X3 the parameter screens are real slooow on 5axis tool paths. Gouge check screen upto 15sec. Dell Precision T3400 with FX1700 video.
  3. multiaxes parrallel to surface. I changed the max inversetime feedrate to 10.0 so it won't post f0.0.
  4. Great this is a new machine with a 18i-MB control and it does take 5plc feedrates. What is a typical feedrate, I'm new to inversetime. How do i stop it from outputting F0.0
  5. Steve Yes I got that part, The problem i'm having is the post out puts a F0.0 right in the middle of my program. 6. Good morning is there a way to make all feedrates non modal on an inverse time program? Using X3 MPMaster post and MMd. Thanks
  7. I thought I was all set but after using it I discovered a new problem. The post is flipping the sign of the A axis. see below N180 G00 G17 G90 G54 A-308.941 X-15.0374 Y2.3223 S2400 M03 N190 G43 H2 Z4.428 N200 Y1.2512 Z2.3856 N210 Z.5856 N220 G94 G01 Z.3856 F100. 8. I was successful in X2 and X3 using the MPmaster post and Mpmaster Generic 3/4-Axis Vertical MMD. Don't forget that you will have to activate the ROLL OVER function on your machine control. On the FANUC 30i control it is parameter 1008 bit zero. Good luck.
  9. Brian I like your idea, I'll give it a try. The tool is extended 5.5in and feeding at 25ipm, it makes a squawk when it hits the bottom. Thanks
  10. anybody know how to slow the feedrate at the bottom of a plunge cycle. We have a flat bottom pocket and the tool is barking when it hits the bottom.
  11. Methods doesn't stock non pallet changer. The MAM 42v work piece size in limited to 13.7 height. The Vertex 550 in 16.5 height. I like the foot print on this machine but concerned with the spindle HP, 5.5kw continuous. Anybody have any experience.
  12. We are looking at buying 2 more 5axis machines. We currently have a Matsuura MAM72-63V and love it. The only problem is floor space. So far we are looking at 1. Mori Seiki NMV 5000. 2. Mitsui Seiki Vertex 550 (only 2M x 3M foot print) 3. DMG DMU60 Any comments would be helpful Thanks Tony
  13. did it work. I want to go the other way. my WEDM post outputs 4 place and i want it to output 5
  14. make sure the CMM programmer takes individual radial scans. top, mid, bottom and dimensions each scan asking for profile of form only, not form and location. If you have a good CMM you can get plots of each scan.
  15. I don't think it has anything to do with the accuracy of the CMM. Think about what you are asking for mathematically. You want to predict a radius based on 36degrees of arc length. The smallest of error even .0005 will result in up to .010 error in predicted radius. when dealing with this type of CMM measurement I find it more practicable to ask for profile instead of predicting a radius. use the same +/-.002 countour tolerance. Depending on your CMM this should be a no-brainer.
