  1. Have you copied some ops from another group? I have had trouble with ops not posting, but it's usually easy to fix. Select all the operations in the group, edit selected operations > change NC file name > OK. Otherwise, (at least in my experience) the ops posting to different NC files will all post, but not to the same file.
  2. quote: you are expected to pre select geometry for many actions,i.e. delete, but for other functions such as xform you have to select after opening the dialog window. Delete is one of my favorite functions in X! Hold down the delete key and start clicking stuff off! There are a lot of things I really like about version X. The zoom/pan/rotate fetures are MUCH better IMO, and the RMB menu is just plain great. Being able to rotate and zoom my model while verifying is another great feature. Overall however, I tend to feel clumsy while using version X and tend to find my way into frustration easily. I don't remember that happening with version 9. I also don't remember hammering away at my ESC key like I do now. I'll catch myself beating up my keyboard now and then just to make sure I'm completely out of however many functions might be going on that I might have possibly forgotten about. It's become a habit for me. Anyone else doing this? I do think there have been some nice improvements made, but overall I would say the negative to positive ratio is about 50/50. I'm acutally pretty bummed about the whole lost survey thing too. I took the time to fill it out honestly and then just like a crashing McamX, the data was lost. Hey, what'd you guys do, try to print the survey or something? [ 12-20-2005, 09:35 AM: Message edited by: Wade White ]
  3. Hate that auto-curse. Just getting a little familiar with X now since we had HOT HOT jobs going on last week when we installed the new software and didn't have time to learn about it. So far my major complaint is with how Mcam decides what it will or won't pick. I'm surprised that there is no TANGENT option under the line creation dropdown, and Mcam X seems very resistant to performing such an operation. The auto curse will let me pick the endpoint of my line, then it will show me the little tangent symbol when I get in the right neighborhood, but then puts the second end of the line at the arc center. Same thing if I use the selection dropdown up on the ribbon bar. I can right click and exclude the selection options except for tangent, and it will create my line as intended. I can get the job done, but what a battle! GEEZE LOUISE! Like a lot of you guys I liked to select with the keyboard. Without having to zoom way in or play around with the layers, I could almost always pick meaningful points on the geometry even though I may not have been able to put the cursor right on the point to be used. I suppose the new environment will eventually become second nature, but at the moment it's sucking the life out of me.
  4. Looks like the oldest *.MC9 file I have is from 8-6-04. That would have been the day my company bought the second seat and upgraded from V8 to V9. When we upgraded, we were told we would have MCX soon. There have been a few things we have come across over the last ELEVEN MONTHS that we might have taken the time to properly learn how to do had we known we would be using V9 as long as we have. On the advice of our MC sales guys (really great guys by the way, I'm not knocking them) we've waited for a few things because X was "right around the corner". I don't blame them, that's what they were led to believe. I've been ready to learn more and improve my MasterCam skills, I just don't see gaining deeper understanding of an obsolete system as a good investment. Now, does it make sense that my patience would be wearing thin by this point? Of course I don't want a release full of bugs and am glad to wait a reasonable amount of time for the program to be well tested, but you've got to admit a year is not a reasonable amount of time.
