  1. Do any of you know of any other good machinist forums?
  2. Can`t use different speeds because there all cutting at the same time unless you were referring to something else. Thanks for the answer though. Cheers.
  3. Hi guys. I know this isn`t Mastercam related but I have gotten some good answers from you all before and figured you could help me out. I wasn`t sure if there was anywhere on these forums I could post this question. Anyway. If I had 2 3" cutters, a 1" cutter and a 1 and a half" cutter, how do I calculate the speed for it considering the cutter dias are different? I know the formula for cutting speed (cs*4/d) except since there is 3 different dias, how would I figure it out? Thanks in advance.
  4. COUNT REVOLUTIONS HERE TOO, IM NOT YELLING IM JUST TOO LAZY TODAY lol. Too lazy to hit capslock but not too lazy to type "IM NOT YELLING IM JUST TOO LAZY TODAY"
  5. Make the thread deeper. When a print calls for a thread eg 1/2-13 .5 deep. If I have alot of material under the hole Ill drill and tap deeper just to be on the safe side. I honestly can`t see what they would want a picky depth on a threaded hole for.
  6. I thought I would toss my 2 cents in. For depth of threads, usually 2 and a half times the dia of tap is your max strength of the thread. Anything more is useless unless its a through tapped hole.
  7. It sounds like you didn't enter the Z That was exactly it. I was only typing -2 instead of z-2 Thanks. If anyone feels like posting some other stuff Id be glad to look at it.
  8. Ok. Thanks guys. I will call the dealer. Although I CAN see 3D. I dont understand what you are referring too. I have been working as a Machinist for 8 years and have done alot of 3D work, I just hadn`t programmed it. I cant understand what you mean by I have to see 3D before I can draw it. But anyway. Thanks again. Switch to an isometric view The xform/translate/chain things just adds another square beside my existing one, but doesn`t show a cube no matter what view Im in. 9. Draw a 2 inch square. Now go transform>translate>chain and pick the square> the entire thing should highlight. hit done> and done again click rectang> in the translation vector box on the bottom type in z-2.> enter click join and 1 step I did this but it doesnt actually give me a cube. Should I be in 3d mode?
  10. ok. Basically what I want to know is this. How hard is it to draw 3D. I took a look at some of the samples in version 8. The 3D mx drawing blows me away. Is that really hard to do or is it pretty easy once you get the basics done?
  11. What type of Stainless? We usually use 316 SS and for that type of job Id use a 3.5-4" facemill and go 350 rpm 8 IPM .125 depth cut. But as Budgie said itdepends on rigidity and surface finish
  12. ok. I see now. I actually have 2 squares. Do I need now to connect them together?
  13. oh. ok. Thanks. Ill try it out.
  14. Ok. Ill change it. Im from Ontario, Canada. I haven`t called the dealer for help because I figured Id just get a few tips and try to get rolling on my own. Im 28 and a fulltime Machinist. Been doing machining for 8 years now. [ 06-22-2005, 09:19 PM: Message edited by: Dave_noob_user ]
