  1. Thanks

Yours model works fine even when I try and redo it. I think the problem is the way I made my model. I revolved the cutouts because there are actually dia changes at the ends that I did not add yet (I figured this varying radius was going to give me trouble so I'm getting a head start on it). Maybe I'll have to extude my model for it to work.

I'll mail you my model if you like to give it a try.

  2. Thanks for the help. smile.gif

This is what I have been trying:

    1. Solids

    2. Fillet

    3. Edges Y the rest N

    4. Select the 2 edges that form a curved v shape

    5. Done

    6. Fillet Parameters window:

    Variable Radius...Smooth

    Overflow:Default

    Edit window:

    Edge 1, 1st vertex .27rad. 2nd vertex .5rad.

    Edge 2, 1st vertex .27rad. 2nd vertex .5rad.

    7. Click OK

    8. Blend Creation FAILED!

    9. go have a beer. cheers.gif

    10. Come back...Still failed

    ??????????

  3. Hello all

Fist off let me try to explain what I am doing. I am making a mold half for a T shape 5" dia. pipe (looks like a block that a 5"dia ballnose cutter ran through in a T shape 2.5" deep) . I want to fillet the solid model with a variable radius where the two diameters intersect (.27R at the top to .5R at the deepest point), I keep getting the error "Blend Creation Failed. Probable cause: Blend overflow removes adjacent face or edge". Any ideas on how to do this?

  4. Thanks cadist!

Editing the registry at HKEY_CURRENT_USER--»CNC Software--»V9mill and enter the logo string[/edit

Thank you VERY much for all your help this one has been killing me. cheers.gifeek.gif

  5. I have tried rotating and renaming "logo" as "wallpaper" neither made a difference.

I was wondering if you might have a bmp file that has worked for you in the past that I could try? This way I could rule problem with my bmp file out.

    Thanks for you help

  6. Thanks for the quick response cadist!

I am running on windows 2000 Am using Mastercam Mill Version 9.0SP1

When I start Mastercam there is no error message it just starts like always but the background is still just black?

"exactly in your registry are you entering it"

    I am entering it here:

    1. run regedit

    2. My Computer HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE CNC Software, Inc. V9 Mill

    3. I left clicked on V9 Mill folder

    4. right clicked in the window on the left side

    5. click new string value and named it logo

    6. double clicked on logo entered

"C:Documents and SettingsesalsmanDesktoptest.bmp" in the value data area

    7. closed it then opened mc9...just black?

This is all over my head so any help would be appreciated. headscratch.gif

Question... at start up how does mastercam know to load the logo as background?

    Thanks

    Eric

  7. Hello all

I need to bring this topic back to life again.

cadist I have been trying your method to place a .bmp image in background but it is not working for me. So I have a couple of questions:

1st is there a certain size or # of colors the image should be?

2nd In the ScreenConfigure do I need to have the "Enable OpenGL® drawing" checked?

If so mine is not lit up...is this an option? Also would somebody be able to explain what this is OpenGL option is for.

I have been wanting to figure this one out for a long time now. It would be nice to finally get it working! banghead.gif

    Thank you for your time

  8. I have had to use the chemical "tap out" a un..few times in SS with great success. The draw back is it takes a long time and it will dull the ss where the acid comes in contact, but nothing that cant be removed with some 600 grit sandpaper. It also works faster if you heat the part up and clean out the hole and refill it with tap out often.

  9. Hello

Taping the part down always scares me, but it has worked for me in the past( with much smaller parts than yours). If I tried to use coolant the part would come lose and you can't get too aggressive with the cuts. I would think with that much area taped it should hold pretty well. Oh ya one other thing that I can across was that if I used alcohol to clean the table and part there was a residue left behind and it would not hold. My best results were with lacquer thinner (sometimes the problem was how to get the part off without bending it headscratch.gif )

    Hope this helps a bit.

  10. One trick I use when I get a print that has alot of metric dimensions on it, is I create the geometry to scale in inch mode 1" = 1mm.

Then when it is done I'll scale the whole thing using .03937 for the scale factor. This converts it to the proper size in inches.
