  1. So that solid to 2d isn't going to save me here, huh? Alright, I'll get to work. Thanks!
  2. Thanks for the response. I use that for my ref. stuff (containment boundries, swarf rails, etc.). It works for straight stuff and creating geometry for 5-axis toolpath, but I've got open, closed, and straight walls all in the same pocket. I need to machine to the tangent point of the open walls, and to the intersection of the top plane and wall of the closed walls.
  3. Sorry...that's in the "MCX2_files" folder.
  4. Ok, I uploaded my part to the ftp as "solid to 2d help.zip". If someone could take a look and shed some light, I'd really appreciate it...
  5. Thanks for the posts. Collin, reading the literature it sounded to me like curve-slice works well for any simple solid (such as a lathe part), but solid to 2d is intended to work with more complex solids. Either way, I've already got the part mostly done (I used "area clearance" instead of surf. rough pocket...same idea though); floors finished; walls within aprox. .01". I think I'll upload my part to the ftp site when I get back to work tomorrow. I need the profiles to finish floor fillets in between pocket depths that blend to the 5-axis walls. It looks like the solid to 2d function is exactly what I'm trying to do...I'm just not doing it right! I'll post it first thing tomorrow morning. Thanks again!
  6. Hello hello! I've got a fairly complicated 5-axis part I'm working on. The top and floors are flat and parallel, but all of the pocket walls are swarfed. The part's only 1.5" thick, and I'm trying to machine everything I can 3-axis before I finish the walls. I can't seem to get the "Solid to 2D Profile" function to work. I've got a couple dozen pockets, all with multiple depths, so I'm looking at a few hours minimum to create all the profiles if I can't get this to work. I searched previous threads but didn't find anything I could use. Suggestions?
  7. I understand I could buy a template, but I would hope that Mastercam's set-up sheets should at least work. I'm not looking for anything fancy, I'm completely satisfied using the GUI tool list and printing graphics from the screen...it just won't work when there's turning and milling involved.
  8. Hey! I've been using the GUI set-up sheet for all of my milling applications, but I tried it on a turn/mill app and it instantly shut down MCam. I tried the X+ sheets, but apparently they don't work with lathe tools(...? they picked up only the live tools). Any suggestions on set-up sheets for lathes and turn/mill applications?
  9. What do I need to do to use the fancy "new-style" posts? Do I have to start with a new one and make all of my mods again? Or can I run the update post c-hook?
  10. I've set my desired limits in the mach. def., but it doesn't seem to take...which leads me to believe that the post trumps the machine settings in this case. I'll guess I'll start removing small sections in my post and see if I can get something different (?).
  11. Hey Rick! Tried that. I'm pretty sure it's in my post. I actually can't even keep it between 0-360 now, when I flip that switch I freeze up while posting.
  12. Doing a search, I've found multiple posts in which people have asked how to limit rotary positioning moves between 0 and 360 degrees. I'd like to have them posted out between -180 and +180 (post A-90. instead of A270.). Help??
  13. Hi fellas! I have my MPMASTER.PST pretty dialed in, so I'd like to edit it to work for my Okumas as apposed to starting with one of the OSP posts. I'm mainly stuck on one thing. I can't seem to get it to post out G15H1,H2...etc, instead of G54...etc. I found the work system section in the machine control definition, but I can't edit it. I'm either getting G54 or nothing at all.
  14. I'm up on the Alington Airport (about an hour north of Seattle). It's funny, when you live somewhere, you take the area for granted. I've lived here for 15 years and I've never even been to Rainier! I've spent a lot of time on the coast surfing though. You really should try to visit Neah Bay, it's the most incredible area I've ever seen. BTW, what did you mean by "...you have way too many programs to do this part..."? Did you mean operations? I'm just trying not to get lost in my program and have a tool do too much in a single operation. I think I've just about got it done... I probably should have picked a different part for my first attempt at M_Cam!!
