  1. Check out your machine definition at the axis limits. You'll probably see that it's set to 10 inches. Set it to zero and see if that takes care of it. It did for me.
  2. Del, Goong on vacation I'm trying to get in the habit of verifying the toolpaths as I did milling in version 9. It has just helped me again as the was a small fix that needed to be done before posting the NC. See if you catch those duplicate entities in verify. I just think double checking the prog. this way is pretty much fool proof. It may not always be necessary in our minds but it is a good habit.
  3. The quickest way to jog between having the cross hair showing or not is to hit F9.
  4. Del I created duplicate holes for a total of 6 and did a no core and windowed the geometry "in X" the tpath showed only 6 chains and that included the wire start points. So the amount of chains was correct and indiviually they were correct and not picking up the duplicate entities, but the toolpath did weird things on 2 of the holes and I was able to still post this. But when learning I seem to be able to post any tpath that isn't correct. LOL I never did wire in version 9. Maybe Saturday morn. I can try it in 9 to see what happens.
  5. Del, In Settings/Files/ there is a checkbox for "delete duplicate entities in file open. I haven't used this yet but I will try it now.
  6. Wow, it's something I can quickly rechain but; I just lost all 10 chains I had in one toolpath operation and it says there are 10 chains at the geometry icon. I was working on another tpath operation when this happened. When I clicked on the geometry icon I found an empty box with zero chains. Went to all 4 of my backups and the result was the same as I constantly save my files. This is the 1st time this happened. So I'm just redoing the toolpath now. I'm even more anxious for X2 now.
  7. SpecV If you put a check at the operations you need to move you can then transform/rotate and then check the box for"create new operations and geometry" and throw that geometry on another level. Or just rotate the part and regenerate the toolpath. Not quite sure if that's what your asking.
  8. Your point is well taken. I backup my files also and hadn't used them yet but I know where they are in case I get a corrupt file etc... I didn't back up at one point in time, but once I read the problems others had I thought hey, get with the program and just back em up. This forum helps me alot.
  9. David, As I read the replies it reminds me as to why I changed my habits and stopped using autosave. I think the the replies are accurate to just change your way of saving files. Yeah some habits are hard to break but try unchecking the autosave feature for awhile and save your file constantly at your convienence. Anyways see if you like it better. I just click on the floppy icon in the top menu, as long as you are sure it is saving the file where you want it saved. I'm sure you know that.
  10. We use S0 D0 for 1 pass also.
  11. I was believing that was a graphics issue as to it showing it leaving stock on the finish passes in backplot. Yes the prog. would show the shift. Duh! What you stated in the last message does make sense. I'm going to see how this works since we use S0 D0 (Esprit)on our 1st roughing pass then S1, S2, S3 for the remaining. I don't use Esprit but my buddy does. I use only mastercam. I now have the wire dia. set at .024 for the 1st pass not associated with library. and then having the wire dia. .010 for the remaining passes and letting the machine offsets do the work. The offsets on the nc file looks good but I don't see the S1 D1 again since it is already in effect. If you know what I'm saying. This is with enable finish checked. I want to give this a try as it should be good.
  12. Del, . I tried what you showed me; Quote: _________________________________________________ i figured out how you can use the enable finish so you can no core and finish your holes before moving to the next one. _________________________________________________ Of coarse it worked and the machine drew it fine. You knew it would if I followed your directions. Thank you. This is what I do; I have my no core power setting (1st pass only) set to .0100 wire dia and .007 stock on stock to leave. I finally got the machine to draw it this way also but only because I had to uncheck "associate to library". That's why it didn't take the program. Those little check mark boxes can get you working harder than you need to at times.LOL The important thing is I learned from this. Your way of telling the wire size is larger reminds me of the times I told v9 mill 3 toolpaths that the cutter was smaller than it actually was. By the way that machine I use to run "the Bostomatic" was sent to Texas at the beginning of this year and now I'm in wire for the time being anyways. I'd certainly like to hear some more wire chat in the near future. Thanks all for responding. Vern rock on!
  13. We just save our cutting off for the morning as the mold and die steels we use don't pit where it's a problem for us. But I see from your responses some steels do pit too much.
  14. Del, Thank you for checking this out. I can look at this tomorrow. Do you like the idea of roughing and finishing the holes then moving on to the next hole location? When I had seen your reply my reation was WOW!
  15. Del, I'm thinking that your Fanucs thread really good, and it's no big deal to have the paths rough each contour then go back and finish each contour.
  16. Del, Ok I'm really on to something here LOL. ________________________________________________ Quote: (if you have multiple nocore wirepaths you can window all of those and have only 2 operation) ________________________________________________ Cool, Yes I agree and do understand that. But... When I do do it that way I can only get it to work to cut and thread the wire twice as many times as I desire. Maybe you know of a way to get around that? The notice I get is "Correct draw cannot be done" when choosing enable finish.
  17. Del, Soon I will try it with some sort of value in there just to see if the machine will accept the program. Maybe I'll try a .0001 Finish Pass Spacing for starters.
  18. Del, I actually expected you to reply! Thanks for your valued input as that's also what works for me but the Enable Finish seems as it would be faster to program when there a # of no core burns. I just can't get it to work that way so I do it the way you also mentioned.
  19. Just wondering if anyone else has this situation in wire. I'm doing a no core wire toolpath with the "Enable Finish" selected and I have it doing 3 skims. All looks great in backplot. I post it and the NC looks good as far as I can tell but the Fanuc wire machine will not except the program. So I changed the "Enable Finish" to "Add Finish Contour" send it to the Fanuc and all is well. The part comes out perfect. This happens 100% of the time for me. I have the "Finish Pass Spacing" set to zero since the wire machine will take care of the spacing with its power levels. Just wondering if I'm missing something here, or if anyone else has this happening and it's a bug. Thanks in advance for any replies!
  20. Thoskins, That could make your head spin what you discribed. My question is would it have shown this if you verified the program? Sorry to hear that bit you.
  21. If Making it a solid was the way to go for designing it and you do not wish to machine it as a solid just create surfaces from the solid on another level. You can create curves all edges of the solid also to help in some 2D or 3D tpaths. Just a thought. Good luck.
  22. __________________________________ Or Esprit posts does. __________________________________- Was supposed to read Our Esprit post does.
  23. Yeah Del, He does look a little big for the fishbowl now that you mention it. LOL Also do you put a G49 in the line after a M37,M38 M27, or M28? Or Esprit posts does.
  24. CNC4BF, Are you sure you didn't check your Documentation folder as previuosly mentioned. It really should be there. In windows explorer. Just double checking with you.
