  1. Never mind, I had to call the G-code for Artificial Intelligence Contour Control (AICC). It works great now, although the program is huge (140 pages). I dont think you can get anything but line segments when surfacing (STOOOPPIID!!!).
  2. We still have x1 with sp2. What are the book titles?
  3. yup, all the arc filters are enabled.
  4. I am trying to cut the outside of a part on a rotary axis and i am having a really hard time getting any kind of a toolpath that doesnt rapid through the part or try to cut it from the inside out or not do anything at all. I put the autocad solid (2540 model 4th axis.dwg) in a zip file (wildbill.zip) and put it on the ftp site ftp://www.ppcadcam.com/Mastercam_forum/solids/ If anybody could lead me in the right direction it would be much appreciated. I am really new to Mastercam and this is a super complicated part, not to mention that we have to make it out of 304L stainless steel. Our MC dealer is going to look at it too, but I thought I should try to get as much help as I can. For the Rotary setup the part will be held in the bore on the rotary axis (x axis of rotation) in a vertical mill. the rotary axis is a full rotary, not just a positioner. I am not looking for someone to do this for me, just a nudge in the right direction. We usually make simple holes and slots, this is nuts!
  5. I am trying to get a true helix posted when using a surfacing toolpath. I have helix enabled in the control definition and I checked that it was set correctly in the post (I think). I can only get it to post a million xyz steps. If I use a helix bore toolpath it works fine, but I really want it to do all of the steps in the bore. PS I am cutting this on a vertical mill using a 3" feed mill, max DOC .98 max helix angle is .5 degrees. There is a 3" hole pre drilled in the center of the bore. I stuck a zip file with 2 Autocad solids in the solid section of the FTP site (the 4th axis one is for the second op). The filename is WildBill.zip ftp://www.ppcadcam.com/Mastercam_forum/solids/
  6. I got transforming to work (THANK YOU!!!), but isnt it just copying the last groove over to the next one at the same angle? There is a radius after the first angle, then a different angle, then a flat (man who designs these things!?!?).
  7. I put the drawing in the drawings folder, the filename is Profile Roll Grooves FTP.dwg (autocad file). ftp://www.ppcadcam.com/Mastercam_forum/Drawings/
  8. I am trying to cut about 50 grooves in the od of a roll. The roll is profiled so I cant just use macros or a subprogram (without spending a month trying to figure out all of the formulas). The grooves are 3mm radiuses with 1mm radiuses on either side (edge breaks). I am using a 3mm radius groover. Mastercam X yells at me when i try to chain more than 2 grooves (it will only do 1). I dont really want to have 50 toolpaths and I cant just finish the OD with the grooving tool (its 50 rockwell overlay). Any help would be greatly appreciated!
