  1. Our company is upgrading all workstations and laptops. They have ordered for me the Dell XPS 710, W/ Intel Core 2 Duo E6700 (2.67GHz), 4 GB RAM, with a 768MB nVidia GeForce 8800 GTX Graphics card, and dual hard drives. I see that this box is for gamers and is more than what I need. I just want to know your opinions on if this will work well with Solidworks and MCAM X2.
  2. Look at this (http://www.boedeker.com/). Lots of info on all sorts of plastics. We machine all series of ultem. 1. We use 2/3 radial x .04 max depths for roughing leaving .02 stock all over. 2. Reclamp part lightly to semi finish . 3. Semi finish with fresh tool to leave .002 stock all over. 4. Finish with fresh tool using 2 to 3 spring passes on the walls only. Best advice I could give you about ultem is its alive. Meaning it moves all over the place.
  3. I recently upgraded to a wide screen LCD but now when I print out my X+ html setup sheet the info does not fit on the page as before. Should I be resetting the margins?
  4. Thanks everyone. The transition was nearly painless. The utility to “Update Mastercam” stated that “there are no updates available for you Mastercam X system”. I then downloaded the files from Mastercam.com and installed without any further issues.
  5. I am currently using X2 SP1. I’m considering updating to the latest version. I have side by side installs of (9.1), (X), (X MR1), (X2) and (X2 SP1). Is it recommended to install (X2 MR1 SP1) side by side also? Should I dump the other X installs? Is the newest version working well? Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks
  6. I need to machine a internal M56 x 2 thread in alum. and I would like to use a sigle point threadmill. Any recommendations on where I can find one?
  7. This is strange. I opened up a new file and did the exact same thing and it worked perfectly. But when I went back to my original file I still cannot get it to work.
  8. I seem to be having a problem with chaining letters used for engraving text. I have done this many times in the past by creating the text with letters using the stick font then I would window chain the text, select the search point and that was it. I can not get it to chain at all now. Am I missing something here? Is my vacation that starts tomorrow clouding my judgment?
  9. I began with MCX last July without any outside training except for the very helpful people here at eMastercam.com and my own perseverance. Whenever I encountered a situation that was difficult I would simply asked the people here for there opinions and they were always very helpful. I am very thankful for all of those who helped me. I’m very happy with MCX2 and I hope I never go back to V9.1. Keep at it and don’t give up. It’s definitely worth the time you invest.
  10. Thad, Thank you, that was the issue. Pat
  11. Thad, Can I send you an email with attachments to illustrate the differences?
  12. The filter selection to narrow the search for a specfic tool type.
  13. Good day everyone, Has anyone experience problems inside the tool manager when activating the tool filter? When I open a new session of MasterCam, I am able to filter the tools from all of my libraries, but at some point soon after when I want to use this feature it will not work. Any suggestions? Thank you in advance for your suggestions.
  14. Thanks for all of the help. Your suggestions worked just as you said they would.
