  1. Our IT guy just update my station to X2MR2 and gess what!!! YESSSSS my customized toolbars and shortcut keys are all gone. I found a folder called "mcamx-backup" and there is all of my old information. Is there a way to bring my old toolbars and shortcut keys from the back up? And if I do so, is it going to affect the functionality of X2MR2? Thank you.
  2. I have a quadro FX4600 and I'm totally disapointed, IMHO is a waste of money. Other less expensive cards perform as good as the expensive ones with MCX2. May be in the past with V9, cards played a big difference but not any more.
  3. shame on me. is been there all this time and I didn't see it
  4. For example when roughing a slot I like to draw a line at center of slot then select it for a 2d single cut with compensation off. The problem is if I want to machine the slot with depth cuts at the end of each cut the tool retracts and rapids to the starting point again at every depth cut. Is there a way to force the tool to reach the end of the line and feed on z to the next depth then cut same line on opposite direction then feed on z repeating this proces untinl final depth without retracting? I always edit the code manually so it does what I want it to do but I think there is got to be a way in mastercam. Please let me know.
  5. I prefer Haas over a multitude of brands. Only thing I don't like and has hapen to me with different machines at different shops when I do heavy roughing for long periods of time the holder gets stocked in the spindle so I have to tap the holder while pushing the release tool button. Besides that I do not have more complains and If I start a shop I will buy a Haas.
  6. we have a Moriseiki ZL-200 lathe w/l-tooling and I'd like to use rigid taping G84 for the face of part. I try to use M29 right before G84 line but for this machine M29 means something different and G84 by itself breakes the taps. No body here have use rigid tapping before but they swear to me that they bought the option with the machine. Does anybody have experience threading holes with live tools on these kind of lathes?
  7. I use Adobe and and I think I found what it is, when I try with wire only then it works, I mean I get a good PDF document but if I have a solid or surfaces on my screen then all I get is a blank document. Does anybody knows if primopdf or cutepdf can output a PDF when a solid or a surface is on the screen?
  8. I have been tring to print a PDF file from mcam screen but everytime I try all I get is a blank document. Does anybody knows how to create PDF's from mcam? I need to include PDF prints to the set up packege for the operators.
  9. exactly that is what I mean JMC. I did the dinamic rotation, loading a large file, verify of a large file, translating large amount of entities, etc. and I do not see any major change from what I had.
  10. cncjg, is this card helping with to verify faster your toolpaths, because here I don't see any major change in speed. Also I had to slow the hardware acceleration to help it. Also a large file still takes long to load. Or, is it just me who is expecting too much out of an expensive graphic card?
  11. gcode, I did that yesterday, but I was thinking if there is something else that I can do. quote: please let us know how that card works for you.. You could by a cheap used car for what that card costs I haven't force this card with a large file yet, but I'll see if I can try something today. So far I'm not impressed.
  12. I set mine to solidedge. I will give a try to solidworks settings. I gess then solidworks and catia settings should have the same results. Also is there any thing I need to set in Mcam configuration.
  13. We just got a new Quadro fx 4600 I have notice there are custom settings for some CAD/CAM brands but none for MCX2. Does any of you guys knows the correct settings that I need to get the most out of this graphics card. I have a Dell precision 490 Xeon 3.2ghz 3.19ghz , 2gb ram windows xp sp2 currently MCX2 MR1 SP1
  14. that will help. thanks, for sharing your experience
  15. May be I didn't explain my self correctly usually our orders are about 10 pcs and most times I order 1 to 2 extra pcs and we have very good results. My real question is, if customer wants only one part and the part is fairly complex and large; would you charge twice for the stock preventing for a f-up (if it ever happens) or would you take the risk and quote only one piece of stock? We may move on that direction in the future and I'd like to know what other people do or think about. Now days even greyboard is expensive for proving programs.
  16. yes JP, that's how I've been doing things but I thought I was missing something like adding 3% to labor cost for commonly used tools. Now, talking about stock, when quoting a complicated part do any of you guys charge twice the price of the stock preventing that any thing may happen to the part resulting on a scrap part. If so at what level of material price is applicable to start charging twice for stock???
  17. What will be a regular rate to charge for tooling (think about endmills, inserts, drills and taps, etc). Is it a percentage of the final product or a prorated amount equally spreded. Also, when quoting, is it the same procedure for small runs than it is for large production runs? Is there any literature for quoting jobs effectibly and accurate? thanks,
  18. round insert = better dissipation of heat also stronger
  19. On a Moriseiki lathe equipped with live tooling, when working inside G112 interpolation mode, I can do the rough milling and then a finish pas with cutter comp active but the question is: Is it possible to cancel cutter comp G40 after the G113? or G40 needs to be before G113 cancels the interpolation mode??? I would like to hear your opinions.
  20. the holes I'm talking about are M10 x 1.5 - 1.051 deep and M12 x 1.75 - 1.276 deep. I read about using heavy lubricants and using cobalt drills at 28 sfm and .0013 ipr at then mill to size. also have anybody knurl on same inconel 718???
  21. Have anybody cut inconel 718. I have no problems with turning it but a couple of years ago I had a lot of trouble drilling it. Does anybody knows an effective way to drill and tap thru inconel?
  22. I know I have read abot mastercam add on for Swiss type lathes. Does anybody knows if this is going to happen and when?
  23. At this point, best you can do is refer to your fanuc programmin manual that comes with the machine and follow exactly line by line what it says for rigid tapping cycle. May be you need a G84.1 or to combine G80 with something else in the same line.
