  1. When I import iges files I get 2 of the same part. Sometimes with a space between them. And other times the surfaces are overlapping. I did a search on this, and most all of you say to ask for a different file type. But my computer is the only one that is doing this. So is it in the config. file somewhere?

    Thanks in advance for help.....

  2. The shop I'm working for now just got this brand of mill in, all other machines are Haas. Anyone out there know how to remote request this machine? Control is a Mi645 and DNC is Cimco.

One more question on this mill. Auto power down. Is there a certain time after M30 before the machine auto powers down? Can this be changed in the parm?

Thanks in advance for your help

  3. Thanks for showing me that dwell code format. I'll write that down in my notes. James I pushed the soft arrow key in both directions in every mode, and it does nothing, No punch button.

The boss contacted someone on the parms. to check, (#911 reads 0000100 and #28 reads last 3 are 001) the machine maker also said that the machine has rigid taping, so we are thinking it's something mechanacal?

  4. Thanks guys for your fast responses. I'm at home now, and didn't get back to the forum while at work. (Trying to use a floating tap holder) The boss thinks that the tach. on the machine has something wrong with it. We are going to have someone in to look at it. I also talked to the machine builder today, he said all these machines have rigid tapping. I'll try all of the things you have given me. What parm. no do I need to send you James?

The threads from the floating holder left a burr on the start of the thread making it hard to put a screw in. I was using a # 4 drill and a

1/4-20 plating tap, parts get galvanized.

We had to change the job over to another machine. This is after spending the day cuting softjaws and programing this job for this machine. Thanks again guys.

  5. We just got a used Horz. Saeilo Mach 3A mill and I was wondering if any one out there has a sample of nc code that does the rigid tap, so I can see what format the machine wants. Control is a Fanuc series O-M. Please help ASAP, we have a rush job that the boss wants to run in this machine.

    Thanks, Roger

  6. That did the trick... Thanks!!! I did have to address an error that (write nc operation information must b enabled in control definition) Next question, Machine requires that tool 1 be in the spindle at start up, or no tool. i.e. If you call say tool 2 in your program it will put the tool in the spindle in pocket 1 and then go get tool 2. Any ideas?

  7. Thanks guys for your answers. Our computer people have already got it set up, but there is a big lag using X2. The computer people are coming on monday to see about getting this problem fixed. We don't have a net hasp here, so that is why I was asking about that. I have DSL at home and at work. My computer at home runs Mastercam Demo just fine, and ver 9 fine.

    Any more info out there.

  8. I'm programing a lathe with live tooling and using a bar puller. The part has a 1.062 slot on each side. And then is cut into 2 pieces with a 1/8 endmill and parted off. My question is when I orientate the spindle with M19 and feed the bar puller on and open the chuck jaws pull more stock, the spindle moves some back and forth. So on the next part the slots aren't lined up. The lathe doesn't do this when you push the orientate button when in handle mode and open the chuck jaws with the foot pedal.

Should there be some other code in the program?

It's a Viper lathe with Fanuc control. Not sure what series, I'm at home now.

Thanks to anyone who might know something on this.

  9. Dave,

This was a c-axis face contour in lathe that I was doing. It's on the ftp site under MC9 folder, named viper test 3.

I looked at the rotary settings and the c-axis is checked and the CW/CCW options are greyed out.

Was this what you where talking about?

  10. Just got to work and checked the machine. Mirroring is OFF in operators panel and in the parameters page.

I could put the post file that I'm using on the ftp site for someone to look at.

Or any other ideas fellow mastercam users have?
