  1. Shouldn't cause any problems for you I don't think. I always do comparison's between versions just to make sure the post is working the way you expect it too with the newer software. Sometimes when updating the post files, things can change and the resulting code can cause issues. So I have a folder with some files I use and I'll post them out in both versions and then do a comparison. If everything looks good then it should be safe to uninstall the previous version.

  2. Hi Jack, We have this issue fixed in our daily builds. It did not make the MU2 release because we didn't fix it quickly enough to make the cutoff date for MU. It was bit more involved than we had anticipated which caused the delay. You can see a version with this fix in it, when X8 goes into public beta which is on schedule for the first half of May. This was fixed under issue D-08857.

    Ok thanks Kenneth.

  3. JACK2ME, We have received it and are looking into it. Looks like a legit bug to me on initial view. Thanks for sending it in.

Kenneth, I was hoping that MU2 might fix the above mentioned issue but it hasn't. When can I expect a fix for this? This is very disappointing being that it was brought to CNC's attention back in December.

  4. I've noticed an issue with verify and live tooling on the sub spindle. I'm drilling some face holes and the first hole is fine but after that the tool wants to come thru the back of the part. If I make separate operations for each hole then all is good. I've been told this is a plane issue. Does anyone know when this issue may get fixed? It was never a problem with previous versions.

  5. I while ago I created a custom drill cycle that works for this problem. The problem with the G83 is that yes it will start inside the hole but it's going to rapid into the hole to the "R" position. By creating a custom drill cycle you can work around this.

  6. Hi Mick,

My company is looking to purchase a Mazak Integrex or a Multus. As of today we are leaning towards the Multus. Can you give me some feedback on the machine? Was there a specific reason you guys went with Okuma? Any info would be great we need to make a decision in the next week or so.

    Thanks

    Jack

  7. To the guys who have an Integrex. What kind of verification software are you using? I know that the Mazak has 3D virtual machining software but does that only work when programing using Mazatrol? If I program g code how much detail will we see at the machine when we run the simulation? We were hoping to use Mastercam for everything but right now I'm not positive that Mastercam can thoroughly verify a machine like the Integrex. And the machine simulation doesn’t seem to support mill/turn type of machines at this time. Okuma however offers collision avoidance software for the pc that is free and it’s the same software that runs on the Multus machine and it shows everything and this is becoming a big factor for us in determining which machine to purchase either the Mazak Integrex or the Okuma Multus. Any insight would be very much appreciated.

  8. Thanks everone for the replies. CrazyMillman-yes, both my Integrexes are series I with Y axis. Jack- Yes, I will try to keep you informed.

Doug-You obviously have the luxury of having the best of all worlds with having a few software packages at your dispossal. I do not. But I really appreciated your input. My question to you now is, why wouldn't you just use Esprit for all the kinds of jobs regardless of the complexity? Why do the less complex jobs go to a different software package? Could it be because of programming efficiency?

    Thanks man.

  9. Daniel thanks for the info. We have no intention of using anything but Mastercam. We have had a Hardinge Q65 which has 2 spindles and does live tooling for years and mastercam does a great job with that machine. My question was more of a machine one as far as issues with spindles and whatnot. Thanks.

  10. I have been given the task from the boss of deciding which kind of programming software is the best for company. We have been using Mastercam for 20 years now, but recently have purchased a couple of Mazak Integrex's 5-axis turn/mill machines. I been looking at Mastercam with their new MT software coming out in early 2013 and Esprit. Or should I just use the Mazatrol? Any thoughts?

My company is getting an Integrex i400 early next year we will be using Mastercam. Can I ask if you have had any issues with your machines? We were also looking at the Okuma Multus but are now leaning towards Mazak. Thanks.

  11. As far as a custom tool is concerned it is very easy to do. You can open up an MCX-6 file of one the tools already installed in X6 ( tool files are in the mill folder ) to see where the origin wants to be and how to define your tool then simply draw your own tool and save the file. Then from the tool manager create a new tool and select undefined as the tool type. Select custom file for the profile. On the parameters page use the select button to select the file you created that represents the desired tool geometry. You could also from any file that you are working on draw the geometry on a level and select that level to define you tool.

You can look on the install dvd for any what's new details.

    Hope this is helpful.

  12. "I created a new plane using planes by normal"

Pick the lower end of the line so the Z+ arrow is pointing towards the spindle ...

That is defining the Z+ direction...

Once you get the backplot right try your post .. then try one of the default mill/turn machines

    like this one

    C:\Users\Public\Documents\shared mcamx5\CNC_MACHINES\LATHE MULTI AXIS MILL - TURN ADVANCED 2 - 2.LMD-5

and see if the code looks right

Not picking the bottom of the line was my problem thanks. I did try one of the default mill/turn machines and can't say if their is missing something but I think I'm on the right track now. Thanks again.

  13. I'm pretty sure you can drill angled holes by using toolplanes and standard drill toolpaths without

the multiaxis add-on .. if your post supports it.

If you want to take full advantage of that machine , you'll want the multiaxis add-on though

Would I need to add an axis of some kind to my mach def file for my mill/turn to support drilling on a angle? I've been playing around trying to drill on an angle and when I backplot, the tool is oriented in reverse. Something is wrong with my toolplane I'm guessing. I created a new plane using planes by normal. We may still get the multia axis option I'm just trying to figure it out a little beforehand. Thanks for the help.

  14. My company is looking at purchasing a Mazak Integrex next year. Can someone tell me if I would need the mutli-axis option for Mastercam if I was only drilling some angled holes on the face of a part? We already have a mill/turn lathe and are familiar with live tooling but have never drilled on an angle before. Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks

  15. Can someone tell me if it is possible to add tools to the library in X5MU1? I'm running X5 and it's really pissing me off that I can't add tools in Lathe or Mill. Sorry if this was posted before. I've heard they plan on updating the library in version 6.

  16. I'm not using a sub program, however when I post a program that has drill operations, along with the NC file I also get a .SUB file with the following code N20 M99 in it and nothing else.

I have many different posts and have compared them

to this Fadal post and can't find any reason for this. Any help would great.
