Hello,
Every time I try to use any surface toolpath Mastercam has it (Mastercam) will lock up or shut down and I'm back at my desk top.
All of the other toolpaths that I have used so far seem to work fine... just can't get any surface toolpaths to work
I sure can use a little help with this problem.
Mastercam V9.1 with sp1 and sp2 installed
Windows Nt 4.0
Plenty of RAM
unsure of what video card is being used if that is needed I can get that information Monday
Thank's to anyone who can help,
Keith
Thanks to everyone who replied,
It looks like I will contact our re-seller
here in Georgia. MC was purchased from a Re-seller in Florida but this company closed up shop there and moved everything to north east Ga.
I had some help from these guy's a few weeks ago with a post for a Bostomatic CNC we use mainley for electrodes.
Thanks again,
Keith
Hello,
I started a new job a few weeks ago with this shop that has MC V-9 Loaded on there computer just as it came straight off the CD. I tried to use it for the first time last week with no luck at all.
The only tool paths that seeme to work are just the simple 2-D. All the wireframe tool paths looks like they work but when backploting there seems to be a stock statement value being used even though I'm not using one. To make matters worse every time I try to use any surface tool path MC crashes.
I'v been using MC since V-5 came out through V-8
so I understand why the patches are used and how to install them. My problem is that there are so many I'm not sure about witch patches I need and the correct order to install them in.
This company has everything MC sells
Mill with mold-plus and all options
Wire
Router
Lathe
Design
The computer's operateing system is Windows NT
I'm not sure about the video card or mother board
if that would make any difference or not.
Thanks in advance to anyone who can point me in the right direction.
Keith
Hello,
I would like to know if anyone in this forum
has had a chance to pull out a few electrodes
with Mold Plus?
I spend about 60% of my time programing
electrodes & the way I have to do it I spend
3/4 of my time just drawing the darn thing!
First let me say that I work in a mold shop
& when I start a new job the designers where
I work will give me a mold split consisting
of a core & cavity surface files complete with wire frame. The mold split are done with
Pro-e.
I get my surface file set up, centered &
start programing & machining. When everything
is done there are usaly some areas that I
could not cut for one reason or another. This
is where the whole job starts to be a big pain in the neck. IT'S TIME TO MAKE THE ELECTRODES!.
I take the surface file i'm working with
flip it upside down & use these surfaces
to make my electrodes.I creat a rectangle
where the trode will be & coppy the rectangle
suffaces & some of the wire frame I need
to another level & start triming the wire frame to the rectangle , use what surfaces
I can & remake the rest.
As you can see by the length of this post
I'm having a huge problem creating some of these electrodes. The more complex the part
the more complex the electrode.Programing
the trode is not the problem. Just getting the darn thing drawn correctly is.
I hope I didnt bore all of you to death with
my problem, but if anyone out there uses
Mold-Plus for electrodes please reply & let me know if you like it.
Also are there anyone offering classes on
Mold-Plus in the southeast U.S.A. that could
train me in the use of the electroder maker
part of Mold-Plus?(Atlanta area)
Thanks for your time,
dnkmartin
Hello,
I have used Mastercam for the last 4 years
now. I started with V-6 & it was a giant leap foward compared to the software I was
using. That software was a dos based system
that only had basic 2-d tool paths along
with multi-surf for the more complex parts
The company I work for builds molds. mostly
compression & compression injection sometimes
we get a injection mold but not verry often.
I'v been in the trade for about 22 years &
been programing cnc since 1983. I'v always
used some kind of software to make my programs, never had to fat finger a program
into a control.
When version 7 came out I hated it ! !
It was totaly different from V-6 when it came
to tool path's. I mean picking the surfaces
or your 2-d wire frame was no problem but it
was the simple stuf that gave me fits.Right click to choose a tool, pick my tool & man look at those feed rates ! change the feed-
rates to what I want no problem.Oops I used
the wrong tool number. Change the tool number
to what I need & everything's fine right?
WRONG!! Look at your feed rates they changed!
after several days of fighting one problem after another I gave up so back to V-6 I go & that's where I stayed until this week.
I just loaded Version 8 & I read through the
book a little. It still looks like there is a lot of operator input to achive the results
that is so easily made with version 6 but i'm sure that once I take the time to set my
system config., Tool tables, & tolerences
most of my problems with V-7 will not happen
in Version-8
I know I will be a frequent visitor here & who knows one day I might crying about how
different version-9 is from version-8 Ha Ha
My best to everyone
