  1. Hi Jay... I don't see anywhere where I can change the feed rate on the lead in/out.. .am I missing something??? Thanks again Geo Using 9.0
  2. Thanks for the welcom Colin. Unfortunately the change at point does not work in this app. (never used the "change at point' so I will do alot more reading up on this) My part is just a rectangle that I chained the outside and I use lead in/out... any other suggestions? Would I have to modify my part with an additional chain for this? TIA Geo
  3. Hi, What do you do when you have say, 5 identicle parts in a series. The part is a cast aluminum boss. You want to machine the face, then use the same tool to machine the OD of the boss then machine the ID of the boss. It is much quicker to machine the one complete part, then move over to the next. What is the easiest way to do this? Thanks again Geo Using 9.0
  4. hi gang again, Gonna bombard the group with questions. Don't have alot of time these days, so when I get a chance I have to send in a few questions/problems that I have had over the month :-) First time threadmilling. Described my tool, exactly as the manufactured stated including the insert. Part was drawn to the exact size of the external boss that I was threadmilling (had sample and go, no-go guages) But when machining the actual part, I was out/oversize by about .300 on the dia. I had to lie about the cutter size to compensate the error. Any suggestions as to what I did wrong?????? I seem to have similar problems when I describe my 45deg tools. Thanks again Geo Using 9.0
  5. Evening all! Is there a way to have a slower feed rate when leading into your cut?? TIA Geo Using 9.0
  6. Thank you James, That is just excellent! GeoGirl
  7. Hey Jack, Do you see problems with drilling, say... when your using an "integral" drill chuck? Apparently has 3 times the holding force. Any thoughts please :-) GeoGirl
  8. Evening all, Not sure if this is where you ask this type of question. 1. Where in the MPFAN (using 9.1) do you make or add a change so that you can pre-call a tool change? (We have a 24 tool arm type changer and would like to have the next tool pre-called into the waiting position) 2. How do you change the tool call # from T01 H01(H01 is a few lines down) to read T0101? Thanks a bunch You guys are the best (by the way) GeoGirl
  9. Hi John, I am using 9.1 and the MPFAN, we have a fanuc 18oimb controller. I will check my post processor - yes your right, it was set at 0 and now I changed it to 1, thats fabulous. Thanks a bunch. GeoGirl
  10. the linerize helixes is already unchecked. Where do I find the "Turn filter on, create arcs" Thanks again GeoGirl
  11. Got another question for ya guys, how come when you post a thread mill, its all linear moves, not using arcs?? Is this normal? I haven't tried to thread mill yet. Have some to try... soon :-) Thanks again, eh GeoGirl
  12. Hi all, Thanks for the nice welcome, its greatly appreciated. I am sure I will have more questions in the future and thanks again for the advice. Have a great weekend eh, GeoGirl
  13. Hi Everyone, I did a search first and could not find this topic, so, now I have to ask. Is there a way to slow the feed when drilling before you break through? Do you have to do a seperate operation to finish the holes?? Or, is it not a concern when CNC drilling as opposed to manual drilling. (drill edges break maybe because it can suck it through)? Thanks, any advice appreciated eh? GeoGirl
