  1. Well I guess I figured out what was wrong. I had the automatically restore bookmark settings checked. It works backwards from my point of view. After I turned it off it works fine. I figured it would restore the settings back the way I set them up initially. It actually clears out the T/C planes. After turning it off I now open a file and my T/C Planes are set right.
  2. I don't have any antivirus or spy software installed on my system at this point. Only XP and X4 are installed.
  3. Yes I have the automatic bookmark setting checked.
  4. Yes I have done that and it still doesn't work. It will save the graphics view but not the T/C plane. I even went back to my original PC factory disk image and Installed X4 fresh and it still doesn't work. It will associate the correct T/C plane and Gview when I 1st create the bookmarks and as long as I am working on that file it works. As soon as I save it and reopen it loses The T/c planes.
  5. Well I uninstalled X4 and reinstalled it without migrating settings hoping that would help but it didn't. I also have X2 and X3 installed on my system. Would that make a difference. I wouldn't think so. I would really like to get it working for the simple fact that I do a lot of Horizontal programming. I am following the instructions from the manual and it just plain doesn't work fro me.
  6. Is anyone having problems with the viewsheets not saving WCS info. When in X4 I can create viewsheets with different T/C planes and it works fine. When I save the file and reopen it I lose all my T/C plane info. All the viewsheets have the same T/C planes assigned to them.
  7. Mark, For 2D and 3D toopaths I redraw holder.mcx and edit it to the shape of the holder that I will be using for each individual tool. I Then save it back into the tools library for future use. But each individual tool has to be backplotted and verified with the edited holder.mcx I cannot use the same holder definition for different diameter tools because the actual holders ARE different. I can't backplot and verify a program with the same tool holder. I have a library of holders I have drawn and I just rename an edited one to holder.mcx and then backplot and verify with it. If you still don,t understand what I am trying to say let me know. I have been using this software since 1994. So I have learned some workarounds. Hopefully maybe you can shed some light on something that I am missing.
  8. Well I see that this topic is about dead so I want to try and keep it alive. I wish a few more would get on this topic and flame on the tool holder definition situation. I would just like CNC Software to know that I spend about 10X more time redrawing Holder.mcx for each individual tool. then backplotting it and verifying it than I do creating the actual toolpath. With the type of 3D horizontal programming that I do tool length and holder clearance is everything. Remember the old saying "Time is Money". Well I need something that is going to save me time. I personally believe that you should not be "pushing back" the tool and holder definition issue. I think it should be priority one!
  9. Well I am glad that some people are happy with having the holder definitions for their 2D toolpaths. Me personally will probably not be using X4. I can't stand going from a tree style for my 2D paths to the old style for my bread and butter 3D toolpaths. To me it is actually very irritating. As usual it feels like the release was rushed out the door. It looks and feels totally unfinished as usual. I have been battling with management at my shop for several years to keep Mastercam. The other programmers have always complained about the tool and holder definitions. Now along with me they are also frustrated about the switching back and forth of the tree style old style dialogues. After this release I may have lost the battle and the war.
  10. Well I hate to say it but the tool holder definition is pathetic. I have been using Mastercam for 15 years. All this time I have waited for them to implement tool holder definitions. And out of all the toolpaths they apply it to in X4 it would be the 2D. Who cares about in the 2D I need it with the 3D toolpaths like parallel and flowline and blend. Sorry if I sound like I am Ranting but I am! I do a lot of horizontal programming with 3D toolpaths and I need Holder definitions on a per tool basis. All I can say is that we have to stick together and complain to CNC Software. All their competitors have had holder definitions for quite a while. I would rather see them spend their time on holder definitions rather than some of the other basically useless enhancements they have come up with. POWER TO THE USERS!!
