  1. Does anyone know if some of the older surface toolpaths such as Flowline, finish shallow, etc. are getting the new tree style facelift in X6 or do we need to get used to migrating completely to the new HST's? I really like the new toolpaths but sometimes I still like the functionality of the old surface paths, possibly because that's what I know best and when the spindle's are on your heels (as always) I need to generate quick code to keep the spindles running and I don't have a lot of time to play with new settings. I have started using Raster in place of flowline in some instances, but it does not work quite like flowine.

The only issue I have is that I use Active Reports setup sheet I customized for our shop and if the toolpath is not a new tree-style that has holders, it does not generate a graphic image for my tool assembly. The work around I started using is to use a point toolpath first which does allow holders.

By the way, any news if X6 will be released soon?

  2. I recently had the same problem with one of my programmer's computers. I finally had to reset his toolbar to default. If you go to Settings>Customize from the top drop down menu it brings up the Customize dialog box. At the bottom of the Toolbars Tab page are 3 icons, the one on the far right will reset your toolbars to default setting. If you have customized your toolbars, you will have to do that again. I tried several different things to get around having to reset because he had customized his toolbars, but I couldn't get anything to work. If anyone else knows an easier way to fix this, please post, I would like to know.

  3. Check to see that you have your chaining sync mode set to by entity. You can get there from the Chaining selection dialog box Chaining Options button. I know that sometimes if your chains are not synced, swarf will do some strange things in corners.

  4. We have an older Daewoo VMC with thru spindle coolant and there is a lag time for the coolant to come on. The issue is that the tool is in the cut most times before the coolant comes on. I manually edit the g-code to put a 5 second dwell after the M7 command. Does anyone know how I can configure my post processor to post the program with the dwell in there for the M7 thru spindle coolant only?

  5. I am trying to change the diameters of about 200 holes that are the same size from 0.44" to 0.42.I am trying to do this in analyze entity boxand trying to make the change propagate to all of the selected entities, but it will only change the current entity and I have to hit the next button and do each hole seperately. Is there any problems with the propagate button at the bottom of the dialogue box that anyone knows of? That is what that button is supposed to be used for right? I am using X3 MU1.

  6. When using the advanced 5-axis toolpath, I love the options and functionality but the graphics are incredibly slow and the interface has the feel of a c-hook - is that in fact what it is? Any ideas why graphics take so long to load for each option? I am running X3 on a Intel CoreDuo 2.4 GHz with 2GB RAM. Do I need a faster PC? Thanks for any insight.

  7. I am using X3 MU1, and I need to use a right angle head on a Haas VF-9 (roughing) and later on a 5-axis tilting head Haas VR-11 (finishing). Having trouble with my post not posting like it is supposed to. Is a special post required for aggregate tooling? I think our 5-axis tilt-tilt post supports right angle heads, but only if head is oriented parallel with the y-axis - I need to position head to mill on all 4 sides of a large part (44" x 28" x 12"), therefore it will not be easy to just rotate the part. Any help would be appreciated.
