  1. If only. Lol. We're going through our system and creating drawings from parts that we made 16-17-18 years ago. It's been crazy, so I'm looking for a way to streamline it a little. That would work, but we'd still have to open every file one at a time to make the dxf file. I want to sit back with my coffee and a cigarette and let it convert them all at once. lol wishful thinking maybe, but it'd be nice. haha
  2. Hello from the distant past! I realize this post is 6 years old, but I'm in need of some info. I'm trying to open up mc7 in mcam9, with the intention of then opening those mc9 files in mcx-9. This vb file you've posted seems to do that (Convert MC8_MC7_GE3 files to MC9) but when I use it, it stops at every file to warn me that the nci file is updating to a valid directory on my system. Can you reccomend any way to get around this? I don't even need the NCI file really. The only info from the file I need is the drawing. If you see this, thanx for any info you might be able to offer.
  3. Psh. If only. They are the masters of the domain, almighty and powerful. Who am I, a lowly programmer, to question their vast wisdom and abuse of power?
  4. That's the kicker - I'm not running toolpaths. 95% of what I use mastercam for is just to draw parts. We do the occasional drill path or contour path when it's warranted but those are few and far between. But even though i'm only drawing, I can still outrun the computer with only 6 gigs of RAM. With the 12 in it, it's smooth and it keeps up. But windows is telling me it's only ever using 4.5. I don't get it.
  5. I'm running X9 and my system meets all the recommended specs accept that I only have 6 gigs of RAM as opposed to the recommended 8. I was running into slow downs but the windows memory monitor said I never used more than 4.5. Just for kicks and giggles, we put 6 more in it (total of 12 gigs) and it's running beautifully. But the windows manager still says it never goes over 4.5. My IT department says this is impossible and they don't want to give me more RAM. Can somebody give me an explanation so I can go to them and convince them I need it?
  6. Can it be done? It seems it can be one or the other, but not both. Am I missing something?
  7. I completely agree. It seems like the changes they made are far less efficient than x9.
  8. Can I change the hotkey for wireframe to be a C instead of a W though? That's what I want to do.
  9. Sorry, I'm new and I wasn't sure. = )
  10. Yeah I found that but I want to change the main ones. For example, instead of hitting Alt + W for the wireframe ribbon, I want it to be alt + C (for create, like every other version of mcam I've used), just because that's what I'm used to. They aren't available on the keyboard shortcuts.
  11. I found the menu to change/add hotkeys for different commands, but I want to change the hotkeys for the main menu tabs (home, wireframe, drafting, etc.). Anybody know if this can be done?
  12. Can I move it somehow? Whenever I try to click near the top of my drawing, It activates the menu instead and it's driving me nuts. Or is this something I'm just going to have to get used to? btw, love your icon. Such an amazing show. I'm going to have to pull out my dvd's and watch it again now.
  13. Check this out - make a simple drawing and dimension it. Now mirror the whole thing in the X and your dimensions are upside down, but not only are they upside down - every dimension you create from now on is also upside down. How do I fix this? it's driving me nuts.
  14. Does anybody know how to remove the stupid selection bar at the top of the screen? Or the mask menu on the right?
  15. I really want this to be true. Anybody?
  16. In the process of upgrading to X9 and running into these a lot. Whenever I xform, offset, move anything it blanks the original entity instead of deleting it. It doesn't do it with copy, only move. I've been playing with X9 for about a month now and I don't remember it doing this before so I think I inadvertently turned something on without realizing it, but now I can't figure out how to turn it off. When dimensioning, while dragging my current dimension around, if I click another existing dimension my new dimension automatically takes the properties of the old one (color, orientation, font, etc.). Is there a way to turn this off? I often put one dimension on top of another in different colors to check drawings or when I reorient things. If I mirror dimensions, is there a way to force the text to stay in the same orientation so it's not upside down and backwards in the result? I can't find the option to "select only" or "select all" in the keymapping to make a hotkey for them. I figured out a way to kind of cheat by assigning QM Color to a hotkey and then when the box pops up I can change it from color to level or entities whatever I need to, but that only works for "All". Is there a way to make one for "Only"? Thanks ahead of time for any help you guys can give. It's much appreciated.
  17. Not sure if this is the right place to put this, but here goes. Whenever I create a dxf file in X9, then open that dxf file in anything else, all my dimensions are exploded into lines, arcs and notes. I've been working with V9 for umpteen years and never had this problem. Just upgraded to X9 a couple weeks ago. Am I hosed or is there a fix somewhere?
