  1. Whats up everybody. Any info or $.02 would be greatly appreciated. Maybe i can help with your programming issues in future. I dont want to be arrogant but i am a decent milling machine programmer at a job shop. The type off guy who makes 3000 dollar prototype and and takes pride with the look of sexy metal JK. I am familiar with parallel, scallop, surface pocket ruff. Also flowline kinda , and my fav radial, at least for what i machine. I have been doing oddball new job programing daily as it is a busy job shop. I am confident with all 2D toolpaths and dialog boxes i know what they do ETC... Almost2 years on x2/ 9.1. 2 on camworks and 1 on surfcam(my nemesis) part time at different shop. I am willing to take a challenging job as mold programmer for that pride of completeing damn nice proto parts. Finally after that novel intro heres the question. what kind of obstacles would i face switching from aero/medical to one off molds? I have about 8 years experinece in machine shop as i am a young guy 26 yrs. Profficent with most milling ops manual and cnc, and surface grinding. My downfall is just a little bit of manual turning experience. Questions about stuff like pencil toolpaths would be awesome? which i am sure is super handy but to tell truth never used it once in x2. I have e split cores and cavities in solidworks (haha handy nightschooling), but have never used in real world environment. well sorry for the novel but i cant sleeeeeep on a sat morn. Again any feedback for waht i am rambling about would be cool.
  2. Thanks for replys. Ithought about parameter to change peck clearance but i just wanted to prove progam out. ran overnight with .06 pilot and .06 ext drill 6 hrs for for holes. Machine is supermax with counterweight on z so peck drilling with small peck values arent exactly quick.
  3. i have to drill 200, .06 holes in AL, 2.45 in deep through. any suggestions on tool peck- chip load would be helpful. HSS tools and RPM maxes out at 6500. Tried peck of Q.07 S6500 F5. and broke pilot drill after 5 holes. Cut in half and took 30 mins to drill 35 1.00 deep pilot holes. is there an easier way
  4. i am having trouble creating shutoff surfaces in 2007. i can show preview but it comes up with a message saying cannot knit sheets together. i have split molds in 2004 and am using the same process. part is a simple remot cover with some extruded cuts in it. i have manually tried knitting surfaces together by manually selecting boundaries but keep getting same message. what gives.

  8. Ver 10 has nice little command for this. I am using 9.1. Is there a menu that i am missing? Thanks
  9. Thanks for your help guys i am going to talk to my boss about file formats. I think i can get it done but there is 53 holes with +-.002 locations. I will just have to clean up the wireframe by deleting the extra arcs so i dont mask the wrong ones. Again thanks for the help guys.
  10. thanks for your help i want to do this for monday i cant contact customer. Is this something that you have seen before. I did it to 2 iges files and got the same results. is there another way of making a wireframe from an iges? thanks again
  11. Is that a save as option As i get Iges files from customers
  12. Hello, When i create curves all adges of an IGES to get my wireframe, all arcs and holes have duplicates. They really arent duplicates because when i analyze the arcs seperately they have different locations and diameters but only varying by .0003-.001. all the models are clean solidworks models. One part had .885 diameter arc on it analyzed the 2 arcs and one was .894 the other .885. Am i missing some thing when i create curves? Oh MC version 9 any help would be appreciated.
  13. Using version 9 or X, how do i unselect a solid face when i do surfaceing toolpaths. when i select drive surfaces , i click the solid and the whole model is selected. Using version 9 when i go to remove face, i click the face and the whole solid unselects. Is there a way do this that i am missing. I am fairly new to solids toolpaths. Thanks
