  1. Good info to know, they brought an old relic Multicam router from another site with hopes of getting it running. I've stayed too busy to mess with it and plan to keep it that way. However, it the times comes, I'll buy one of the adapters mentioned above.
  2. I figured out some setting was wrong but couldn't find it to correct it... so I called Mastercam Technical Support. They walked me through setting up my machine configuration as my new puter was using defaults instead of the .control, .RMD, files Thermwood requires. All is good again , thanks for the responses!
  3. Well I was thinking it was the post got changed somehow but I confirmed I am using the original post. After comparing my program for my proto part made in June and the revised program I am failing to create I noticed the G code is different. Not only is it adding a retract command to the Drill lines but it is also adding the follwing at the start of each command line. N120 N130 N140 etc. I guess its probably just a setting that I probably made in my training on my old PC and needs to be made to my new puter....
  4. I'm using X2 (11.0.3.25) I'm not only a newbie to the board but new to the CNC world. Recently the computer I used as well as the network was changed and I have been having issues ever since... I finally figured out my post is adding a retract command thats causing the error. Looking back at some of my old programs there was no retract command and hence the difference between sucess and failure. At least I have a customer, sales guy, customer service, and now plant manager asking for updates every 5 minutes... as we all know this really helps with the progress...
  5. Hmmm, these are the closes search results I have found..... I'm trying to drill some holes and everytime I program I get the following error. "R Command is in a block that is not a 2D arc" I'm picking the holes to drill from a imported CAD file and having to rearrange the drill sequence to make it linear instead of mastercam's desire to cut the outer holes 1st.
  6. Derek, I agree, cutting at the best speed seems to be the best for the thin Alum sheet. Using a spray bottle isn't really an option due to our router is protected by a light curtain and safety mats so nobody can be within a few feet of the machine while running.... Yes, they spent over 15K to add safety... Now setting the spoil board height is a real treat.
  7. Thanks for the responses gentlemen. This afternoon I'll start searching for some of the tooling mentioned. And yes, we use ER32 tool holders but have no way to use coolant. One good thing about using a 7x12' router is on these parts that only need a couple of holes, there is plenty of time for the cutter to cool before the next piece.
  8. Howdy all, I did a quick search but haven't found that similar of a topic yet. I was wondering if anyone has a recommendation for the following. Thermwood CNC Router X2 Mastercam .030" Alum, drilling 7 holes, .1875" or .2188" I was thinking I could save some hassle and just use an end mill to drill the holes but found that the round chip stuck to the end of the center cut end mill and just dented the next drill site instead of drilling. I then adjusted my depth so the cutter pushed past material thickess by .030". This allowed the chip to stay in the waste board. This has gotten me by for the prototypes but now they want to start production orders.... If I'm drilling with a router, should I just break down and order a drill chuck and bit?? Any recomendations, and thanks in advance if you have made it this far.
